Hi all
This is our 1st post,We are coming out for 6 months at the end of march our girls have grown up and we are throwing caution to the wind .Who knows where a trip like this will end up,maybe a new home/job
We are getting a little confused as to what we need to arrange before hand.We have accomodation already sorted and a vague idea on most things but a few pointers would be appreciated.Like money? whats the best options just use debit cards.or do we need to set up a cypriot account. We been browsing through these finer details saying we will sort it out and now our departure date is coming round fast the panic is starting to set in. :doh We know we will have top apply for the residency as we are there over 3 months and show we have the funds so to speak and we have flights booked to come home (booo) but maybe just to pack up and move out perminent(YAY)
Honestly any info is great or a pointer to the relivant threads on the forum is good

Look Forward to maybe meeting some of you
Neil & Ruth

Hi Neil & Ruth
Welcome to P.P
:greetings
You can go and register if you want , butI have to say ,
I was here for a few years before I even bothered.

As regards money , its best to have a local bank account
they can come in handy and are easy to set up ..

Next thing to do is put your names down for a P.P night out ,
you will meet many new friends there ..

Which area are you moving to ??

We did wonder about registering as we only there for 6months and the embassy websites says it could take 6 months to actually setup.
We have a apartment in Kato for the 1st month then another 2 bed on a complex in Emba for the rest of our stay.Very much looking forward to our stay and who knows what it will bring

Many thanks
Neil

You will need to hire a car so look around and compare prices.PM me for a recomendation as I got a very good deal for another couple out here for 6 months with our usual supplier.
Do not pay the whole rent up front as you may find you have very noisy neighbours etc and feel stuck. There are so many rentals available you don't have to worry about finding a suitable one.
You do not need to register unless you are thinking of working while you are there and then you must.
Unless you are going to be doing this every year then you dont really need a bank account.Bring enough with you in sterling and cash it as and when you need it.You get a much better deal in one of the shops in the harbour with no comission than your own bank will give you.
PP's people are always very helpful with any queries you have regarding anything so keep asking .
Hope you have a great time in Cyprus.
