Make sure it's a multi-region one or it won't be much use to you over here!

It should be OK as Cyprus is Region 2 the same as the UK. It will only be a problem if you intend to buy pirate recordings. If that is the case you will probably find the codes to switch it to region free on line - http://www.videohelp.com/dvdhacks

Why buy from Tesco, you can buy cheap players here and get a warranty. Or spend a bit more on (say) a Philips player and get quality to go with the warranty.

As we don't live there we do not need high quality player only to watch dvd or cd's when we are over.Once we move we get involved with blueray etc.

A better quality player might actually last until you move here. ;)

I got myself a Plu125 of Ebay a few years back, way before Photo & Audio DVD's were a big thing & it played them all, you name it, it can probably play it  it has a 125 speed FF & RWD, so flicking thru films is super fast & it only cost me £45 back then & still works great over here as its multi-region

Also brought a Philips 7" portable DVD player of a guy at work, who had it for Christmas but didn't want it for £50, plays everything & the battery last about 3 hrs, so great for trips :D
