I am wondering if there is any possibility of claiming back my deposit I have always payed all the bill on time and never had any complaints directed to myself from the agent. Until the contract was up for renewal. I work abroad on a month on month off basis. I was told by the agent that she did not like some friends my father had and she was going to Change the contract to include who he could have in the house. I found this to be a bit unreasonable so I found a new rental property but the agent will no longer speak to me or reply to phone calls. I hate this and I want it sorted as my father is 70 and is getting very stressed with the ordeal any help or guidance would be a great help

It is quite usual here to withhold the last months rent instead of having to 'claim back' the Deposit. This of course assumes that the deposit is the same as one months rent. But from you letter you may already have paid up.

In my opinion the agent cannot change the contract. Or to be more correct they can write out what they want but YOU do not have to sign it.


Just make sure that you do not jump out of the frying pan into the fire.

I would think that you have little hope, just dont pay the last months rent..

My appologies for the delay in replying, to be able to help you I will need a bit more information, i.e. the tenancy agreement, did you terminate the agreement or not.

Also, the tenancy agreement should be with the owner and not the agent. Why is the agent involved and why are you paying to the agent.
