I've found " this site only " very, very, very slow today.

Maybe the powers to be can tell us why ??????

Mine is as slow as a snail, I've no idea why it's like this, maybe something to do with the link to our server abroad, I'd have to get our tech guys to have a look

Our puters have been fine today, our dial up with onspeed (in Wales) almost is as quick as our Orange Broadband Connection.

It was so slow yesterday that I gave up the ghost in the end.

Faster this morning again. You watch. The battery will go now!

I have spoken too soon. It is all slowing up again on me.

I hate it when everything goes so slow. That is how I end up with over 100 emails to catch up on. I just lose the will to live if I sit at the computer whilst it winds itself up.

It is seriously peeing me off now as it is so slow. I am gone. Will come back later - battery permitting - and give it another go.

It is taking a whole minute to put a post up and get back to the forum index. Nightmare.

I think management haven't paid the bill so the server has put them on a go slow. Marj

Thought this was going to be another thread about Pete & Neil at first....

Database connection does seem a tad sluggish at times today - have raised an enquiry to our helpdesk to see what's up - if they don't fix it soon I'll have to get Neil to call and shout at them again!

To be hones Marj, I've no idea why its running so slow for some & not for others, like me & Jackie, she says its ok but I find it slow, Martin & Neil have both said its ok with them too but Trish, Verity, you & me find it slow

Maybe its something else & not PP

All other sites are working perfectly fine for me, Pete.

PP is painfully slow.

I think Neil should shoot the helpdesk guys. Oops - I mean shout at the helpdesk guys.

Have to agree, PP is incredibly slow, particularly in comparison with other boards, especially in refreshing pages, pulling teeth would be quicker I think!

Ok its slow sure the guys are as fed up as us and trying to sort it we are just so hooked we need our daily fix quick. Dont want it too put off new people it will be sorted hang in .

The problem is being discussed amongst admin and I am sure they will make some decisions about how to rectify this soon as it is getting beyond a joke for them, too.

Well I'm probably going to X the site again but it seems 10x faster today, compared with yesterday

It keeps coming and going, Pete. Neil says things are being sorted, so I guess we just have to bear with it.

All sites have problems at some time or other. You can gripe about it, or you can accept that it happens and be patient whilst it is being addressed. Some problems take time to sort out as you have to give the hosting site a chance to deal with your complaint. Anyone with an ounce of common sense will understand that.

Trisha - even admin and mods have lives other than the forum, so I know what you mean. I am sure it will pass and you will be able to get those typing fingers going again without losing the will to live waiting for the posts to appear. If it all grinds slowly again today I shall come back in the morning. It seems quicker then.

Well that's a couple of hours of my life I'm never going to get back.....

Have just disengaged from a lengthy chat session with the "help"desk - cut a long story short I was not only having to explain what was wrong but also put forward the suggestions for fixing it.....server has been rebooted now and Andy has also kindly done some tweaking to our log files - seems OK for the moment but then again that could just be coincidence....

Think this has to be last-chance saloon though - if they can't get the site working consistently reliably we'll just have to take it elsewhere!

I am already looking at other hosting companies..
It is nothing to do with how busy we are , we have lots of space,
its the dam hosting company ,, since november they are putting all new clients on there new platform , which is crap ,,, we are one of there new clients...
The old exisisting clients are on the old platform
(i have another site on there ) .... its running like clock work
so the new all singing and dancing platform is crap... and the old platform is running great ... HOW DOES THAT WORK

as martin says ,, they are in the last chance saloon ,, we will move if it gets bad again ..

Imo I think they've had enough time & energy spent on them, we should ditch them & find a hosting company which actually works how we want it too

Try asking the Help Desk to look at their 'Head room' capacity. This basically means that they don't have sufficient network capacity in and out for the amount of traffic your site is now generating.

You could say they have 2 inches of water trying to go down an 1/4 inch pipe.
