Hi

Can anyone out there help...we have a fridge/freezer that has suddenly stopped working. There is electricity getting to it as the internal light comes on, but it's not cooling.

Does anyone know of a repair man that can come out to assist.

It's not old and has had very little use.

Would sooner repair that replace.

If the power is still on but its not cooling, it could be that its leaked all its gas & isn't able to chill or your motor is faulty in either case, its probably cheaper to get a new one than to repair

I don't agree Pete. If it is the gas that needs replacing it is relatively cheap in comparison to buying a new one.

Tom, I have emailed someone and will let you know whether they can help. Can't promise, but it is worth a try.

Not really, as if the gas needs recharging, then there's a leak, which will need finding & repairing, which is a very expensive job

The guy came and gassed up our fridge in the rental we were in. Took very little time and our landlady wasn't unhappy about what she paid.

It was something to do with the heat over here, or the compressor or something. Anyway, I have sent off an email - it can't hurt.

Ask me a question about delivering babies. I know about that.

At least if it can be gassed up again (if that's what it is) then it's worth a try b4 buying a newie.

Jan is there on her own till I get there Wed so she'll be pleased if we can get somebody. She only did the shopping Friday as well, and it's all in the bin now.

Gary, I feel sure Pete knows how to produce babies. More importantly he knows how NOT to. I wish some of my clients in the UK had discovered that little gem instead of producing more kids for me to support via my taxes.

Oh I know a thing or 2 about children, before during & after Having been there for both of my boys births, before, during & after

Update really nice English guy named Mike came and looked at our fridge/freezer major component had died needless to say he tried with a new part but to no avail. Mike was recommended by another member of PP.

Highly recommend this guy he repairs all electric goods inc air cons etc and was very, very reasonable, in fact gave him an extra 10euro because I felt he didnt charge us enough.

Bought a new fridge/freezer today from a new electric shop that has opened not far from General hospital stocks all named brands: Pitsos, Bosch etc. Prices very competitive with Polis Rd, same day delivery and no delivery charge. One shop yesterday wanted to charge us 35 euro for delivery.

Also bought a car yesterday from another member of PP who advertised their car in the cars for sale section, so all in all the forum has worked well for us and shows the forum is working for its members. Thanks to all.

Finally to make my day our internet is now up and running

so I am a happy bunny today and will be in the George and Dragon on Saturday if any one is around.
