IMHO you don't need name badges. Just get off your backsides and go and say hello to people. If we are all from PP no-one should be funny about being approached and introducing themselves, should they?

It is a friendly enough forum. It should be friendly in real life.

At the Launch Party I only got to sit down for a few minutes as I was too busy walking around & introducing myself to everyone

I'm sure by the end of the evening, members were fed-up of seeing my face

By the END of the evening??

By the way, agree with Verity on the name badge issue!

A lot of people are much shyer when coming face to face with people. They let their fingers do the talking but actually going and introducing themselves is an entirely different ball game.

How many people go to a get together and dont meet many people and still cant put faces to names the next day

I've gotta admit I am one of those people that will get off my backsides but how many actually will do that.

At the P.P. launch how many people actually went round and introduced themselves - apart from Admin

But if they don't get up then a badge won't help any way. Because you or I will just go and speak to them, whether they have a badge on or not.

I didn't wear a badge at another forum's Christmas do. I just used my mouth.

On balance I would agree with Molly. I can see both sides of the discussion (well, I am Libran) but for me personally I would rather people wear a badge and then I would more likely to approach someone and strike up a conversation with them and be able to address them.

I can vouch for that. If anyone wants to wear a badge maybe you could make your own, bring it with you, and decide on the night whether you want to wear it or not. Is that a Libran way of thinking, seeing as I am a split Arian/Taurian?

I have updated the list of people wanting to come. If anyone is going to be unable to attend please let me know three or four days before the event.

It is not fair to ask a taverna owner to buy food in and prepare it and then not turn up.

I feel sure our members have integrity, but I just feel a bit responsible for ensuring that the taverna owner is not left with food that has been prepared for people who don't turn up.

Nope, not veggie, will eat anything - even porridge oats. I love Greek Salad or Village Salad as the Cypriots call it.
