Thought it was a good idea to list disabled facilities that we know about or discover in the future when we visit different establishments....bar/cafe/restaurant etc.

If you come across suitable places with resonable facilities pop a post up here, I'll start with the one's we now know about and already mentioned:

Hobo at the harbour.
Debenhams.
Starbucks.
Zanzibar, just down the road from first and last.
Most hotels are hospitable just ask.

In an 'ideal world' this is the minimum requirements to make a toilet for the less able acceptable.
This is the criteria we use for MS Clients:-

The minimum dimensions for a disabled toilet cubicle is 2.2m by 1.8m, and must have a turning circle of 1.5m in diameter to accommodate a wheelchair.
All disabled toilets must be accessible from the outside, in case of emergencies or if the user needs any assistance.”
Further important features of disabled toilets / bathrooms include:
•Provision of shelving for people needing to use injected medicine, such as insulin.
•An alarm cord, which is no further away from the floor than 200mm.
•A yellow sharps bin, for used needles, that is properly supervised and managed.
•A modesty blanket, as anyone asking for assistance may find themselves in a compromising situation.
•Hand rails for easy mobility.
•Colostomy bag hook for people to use.

Dave I completely agree with you and facilities for the disabled should be as shown on your list, but doubt we'll see it for some years to come in Cyprus. I think we will gradually though as the minimum regulations from the EU are implemented, it should improve then.
For now, finding places with downstairs loo's is a bonus

I would suggest the First and Last bar isn't included as it NOT a disable toilet. It's just a down stairs toilet and most wheelchairs won't be able to get into it.

You can add Neos in Peyia to the list, although I didnt actually go into them, the access certainly seemed very good, judging by the rest of the establishment I would imagine they are good.

All the loos are on the basement level and can be accessed by a lift.

Well done Mr P, it is a very nice establishment and customers seemed to be enjoying themselves.

O'Neills - they are down stairs but they aren't disable, unless they have them in a different place. I'll ask next time I'm in.

The Granda in Peyia does as well, but there is really big step to get into the place

Another one for the list is Blue Eyes. They have a large diabled toilet on the ground floor with easy access for wheelchairs and a slope for easy access to the restaurant/bar. It is situated just past the St. George traffic lights on the right hand side.

I think that the newly built restaurants and facilities have to incorporate 'fit for purpose' disabled facilities now due to EU rules, however where an old restaurant/taverna/cafe where it is as built of recently refurbished, there is not the same requirements for the rules to be applied.

I will say also that the toilet facilities for 'Able bodied' persons often leaves a great deal to be desired.

Where any restaurant etc has invested (rightly) in disabled facilities, I think they (or the municipality) should organise some kind of badge or signage for the exterior of the premises to let everyone see. And even go as far as publishing a list of such premises in shops and tourist apartments etc.

I'm still working on what/how to do it but i can commit that Paphos-Eating will by end of this year have a search facility that will list eateries that are 'disabled friendly', based on me and site visitors supplying the information.

Just to add to the list. Mediterranean Deck(next to Alexander the Great Hotel) best I have ever seen. Don't forget if you want to shop or just a coffee Debenhams on roundabout have disabled toilet but never tried. Wonderful idea about compiling a list of disabled friendly establishments as always asked questions when certain friends visit. Was asked by total strangers yesterday in a cafe where they could hire a wheelchair for their holidays so perhaps we could extend the idea to a disabled section as a lot of us have friends with some problems.

Thanks Pansy, the more people who observe and just make a note of the facilities available for the disabled, the better picture we can build on what is available in Paphos and surrounds.
I have been doing searches for the hiring of wheelchairs and equipment for the disabled and others who require aids hope to put up a few contacts soon.

I noticed Big Dutch had added disabled facilities on his forum Paphos Eating and thought great the more information available the better

Do they have disabled golf .. ??

We have downstairs toilets, but with the best will in the world, we don't have the sort of disabled facilities we'd like to have due to the very old building - it's a question of drains...

The Moorings down at the harbour have downstairs, disabled facilities, also T for 2 on Tomb of the Kings have disabled facilities...well done to them.

Just to say A touch of Paradise hair and beauty is disabled friendly, no stairs and a downstairs loo. We are situated in chloraka

Paradise restaurant in Chloraka . From the front it is a detached house, but if you drive up on the road next to it you will have easy drive into patio area behind the house. It is big enough for two cars to park. From there is only few steps to restaurant. You can use back or front entrance for disabled persons in wheelchairs. Unfortunatelly they dont have disabled toilet because this place was built in 1986, but toilets are in same level just behind the bar and quite big. Even though this restaurant is small they had six wheelchairs in for xmas day 2011 and house was 100% full. At least i didnt see any free places there! Owners there are the most understanding people i have seen in long time. We ordered a special meal for our daughter on xmas day as she has special dietary needs and times she must eat. Food was there on time just the way we ordered and leftovers were kindly put for takeaway!
