hi! I'm new in this forum and also in Paphos, I have a really BIG problem. I don't know if you can help me. One month ago I got a transfer to Paphos due to work, I was soooo happy, I started to write to Rentals agencys asking about properties near the airport or bus stop 612 where pets are permitted as I have 3 dogs, didn't get any answer from them, except form Rentals ASAP, but they are still looking. When I arrived to Paphos (my dogs are still in Spain) I called, and wrote to a few of them again, they are looking. The rental will be for 12 months, don't mind if the propperty is half furinshed, just need a fridge, stove, laundry machine, bed, and most important small backyard or terrace. I know in an apartment complex is very complicated that owners permit pets. Can anybody give me a hand? hint? suggestions? thak you in advance. I'm so desperated.

I need it as soon as possible, I'm staying in a hotel since I arrived to Paphos, I'll try to spend a couple of nights in the sofa of a collegue :?

You really need to be looking inland for a detached property with land for your 3 dogs to run around in,go to the toilet and while you are at work if they bark a lot you will not annoy any neighbours.Cyprus is awash with barking dogs that drive the neighbours mad so this is something to be considering when looking for a place and by the sound of it,you are looking for a flat in town which is not the type of place to be having 3 dogs. There have been so many people on this forum having to move house because of other people's barking dogs that it really is a big problem over here.
Now all you pet lovers out there can jump down my throat for holding an opinion.

You're right Beverley....

We've been in the same semi-detached rented property for over 8 years (in Limassol). Our 2 big dogs have the run of the side yard all day whether we are at home or not.

To the side of us lives a single Cypriot lady in a detached bungalow and on the other, attached to us is our landlord and his wife. The single lady has a plot of land which runs side on to our side yard and immediately behind us is Andreas, who has between 5 and 7 dogs at any one time. He "rescues" any dog he finds wandering around our suburb. He has one that's as close to being a "house dog" in that she isn't permanently in a kennel, except at night.

Our dogs bark if someone shouts in the street, if the cat from over the road comes and sits on the front road or our patio just to annoy them and if and we do sometimes hear Andreas' dogs barking.

Complaints from anyone? None at all...

Nobody has any idea how big the dogs are that the opening poster needs to home. They could be small lap dogs or they could be like ours a lump of a rottweiler and a cross breed about the size of a small labrador.

But lets leave it to the dog owner to dictate what type of property he chooses to live in and where it's located. There are enough posts on the forums for them to be able to make an informed decision....

I agree with both of u, even if my dogs are used to live in a flat (I was living in a flat in Madrid, nex to to this big Juan Carlos park) and never had a complaint from neighbors, except they were affraid of my grat dane, I was looking for a detached property, where they can wait for me while I'm working, etc. and also because I wanted my dogs were out of the sight and acces to people when I'm not at home, not because they are dangerous or annoying, but because the father of my grate dane was poisoned in Granada, and also the grate dane of a friend of mine, somebody threw poisoned food over the fence, but none of the Agencys I contacted on phone or internet answered, and they still don't. But I finally have a place where to live with the help of this gril who has been living in Paphos for a long time. Is not what I was looking for but, at least for now I have a place where to cook, do laundry, cooking, etc.

We had the same problem 8yrs ago when we were looking for a rented property a couple of months in advance of moving permanently to Cyprus.

Hardly any of the agents replied to enquiries for rental properties but they did reply to emails we were sending to view to buy (a friend of ours was coming out to view and buy at the same time).

It seems for rental properties the agents prefer you to be here in person because rental properties disappear very quickly off the books plus a lot of the agents "share" properties which means they may have to contact another agent who does have the property/contract on their books. This means they have to split the commission between the agents 50/50 (the commission is usually equal to the cost of your first months rent). They won't go chasing around on the strength of an email but if you turn up at their agency and they can see you in person, they will pull out all the stops.
