just heard that when easy jet start to fly to cyprus in april, they are going to divert all flights to larnaca and transport travellers by coach to paphos, the so called reason being, that the landing fees are to expensive at paphos airport, the irony of it is, is that they are not even telling anybody.
anybody else heard anything?

We have just got our tickets and when we fly back easy jet it is from pafos airport. It states it so unless they change when we are in cy and they know where we live we would be stranded.I guess it is all rumour.

You're joking

Arsenal - where did you here that ?

We fly with Easyjet in May and I am just about to book a car to pick up at the airport - might wait a bit and see what happens as its only a few weeks till they start flying.

We fly out with BA on Easter Sunday and return with Sleazy Jet a fortnight later. I don't care how we get back, just as long as we are in time for work on Monday morning, as, if we lose a days pay, it will affect our pensions.

That will mean delays and time changes, so they should be informing people.

If you are due to arrive at 6 p.m. in Pafos, and they land you in Larnaca, you won't get to Pafos until around 9 p.m. Going back would be worse. If you intend to get into your UK airport at 1 a.m. it may mean you are not getting in until 4 a.m. Effectively it turns a 4 and a half hour journey into 7 or 8 hours. Nightmare.

We have friends coming over with Easyjet in May. I hope this is just a rumour.

Here's another one to watch out for !!

Quote from e-ticket "easyJet will offer one free hold bag (up to 20kg) plus one free sports equipment bag for those passengers (excluding infants) transferring from GB Airways (Economy / Euro)."

BUT when you enquire just to be sure that you won't have 12kg each that they will not accept the answer is that the free extra is ONLY for the following;

bicycles, golf equipment, skis, surfboards, wind surfers, hang gliders, and firearms

The reason is that ej only insure the above. When I mentioned that it did not say this on the e-ticket which is misleading they said "Details of sport equipment and baggage allowances can be found in our Carriers Regulations".

They are going to refer this to ej head office because ej customer service say that they are going to try and do everything they can to assist customers transferred from gb airways.

Hi Pete

It says about our check in time 2 hours before when we depart pafos on easy jet for our return. There is no way you can get to the other side of the island so it may all be rumour.

both airports are operated by hermes and there is no difference in the landing charges, surely it would be better if you could perhaps try and check out if this information is genuine before posting as it can cause anxiety to people who have booked with easy jet

This could affect a lot of us. We decided to give Easyjet a go in July as return flights saved us nearly £400. So let us keep our fingers crossed. We are flying from Gatwick and holding out hope that EasyJet (who have all but taken oven Bristol Airport) will fly to Pafos from bristol in the future. The saving is justified at mo but the haul to and back from Gatwick at one end of the journey would be enough for us.

Let us hope it only a rumour, remember the Tesco one! (oops)

Just got email no change to flight times and by looks of it we fly back into North Terminal so we will leave car at north instead of south.

I will get maggie to check also in case i read it wrong as it depends on wether your ticket begins with 5 or 8.Also looks like you can manage your booking and check in online

Just received the same email Frank, advising all flights from 30th March with flight number begining with 8 will operate out of the north terminal, those flights begining with 5 will use the south terminal.
Online check in and printing of boarding pass is available 60 days prior to departure providing that you only have hand luggage. If you have hold luggage then you have to check in as normal at the desk.
It will certainly be a new experience after the smooth GB/BA system.

Interestingly the revised booking print out still states
Gatwick/Paphos and Paphos/Gatwick - so no change there then

Won't be long and someone will have made the journey and can give us some first hand info.

Just as long as our friends get here safely I will be happy.

Its not so much the change of terminal at Gatwick, but where they will land in Cyprus.

There has been no mention of change, although I'm sure that if they were to change the airport, people would be notified.

I would think they would have to notify people as their pick up arrangements would be affected. And if they were flying people back from Larnaca surely the time they would need to get to the airport would change to accommodate transfering them to Larnaca.

I'm sure they would notify of change of airport - as already said they have been notified of change of terminal.

At least with the terminal the passengers can catch the train and it doesn't take long, but the airport is a different matter all together.

well i thought the whole idea of a post like this was to see if anybody else had of this going ahead,
how would you have felt if you were inflight and an ananouncement came over the tanoy, saying that you were diverting to larnaca?
i'm sorry if this has caused you upset, but as i said this is what a website like this is for, so various people can ask other members about different things

regards

My friend who works for hermes is here.. sorry to say she is having a good laugh at this thread..
she said to let you know all your flights will be landaing at papfos
as scheduled ... why would they move them on to larnaca
?
the landing fees are same as paphos
and why waist fuel going further, to bring people back in buses..
wheres the sense :?

She has also said that due to our new communist president
there will be 6 more jumbos from moscow per week, landing at larnaca
and another operator from St Petersburgh is running flight daily into paphos..
as they are relaxing the way russian holiday visas are granted .
they want to attract the money russians back to the island

Hi Neil

Interesting news about the Russians from your friend at Hermes.

The Paphos Property Market needs the Russian money to prop it up so it will be welcome news that many more travellers from St. Petersburg are coming to Paphos to benefit everyone with an interest in the local economy.

Some of us may not like this much but with visitors from the UK to Cyprus falling away with the strengthening of the euro it is the nature of the current economic crisis in the UK.

Those who have property here will benefit from investors wherever they come from methinks.

Hi John
The (real Russians) the ones with money , are what they are trying to attract, Moscow and St Petersburgh are the money city`s
I saw on tv the other day , Moscow has more billionaires than any other country in the world .. I would have no problem having them as neighbours , as most of them only want holiday homes anyway.
could be a nice earner, looking after there place whilst they are away ..

The fact that they have money that they want rid off ....
thats a plus :D
