Well I've had a great night watching the end of the Olympics -- loved the John Lennon bit -- even the Spice Girls looked good. Got a little fed up when they were carrying those boxes but still good. Queen had everyone joining in - just brill and Brian May wow. Brilliant just brilliant.Marj

Loved it all. Real celebration of British pop and rock music. Thank goodness no Paul McCartney, Elton John or Cliff Richard, who although are great ambassadors for Britain, are quite frankly past it, and should not be allowed to sing live again. Can't believe Take That still appeared after Gary Barlow just losing a daughter. Up at Alex's bar in Peyia we were all singing along to the Spice Girls, Oasis, Queen, The Who, Fatboy Slim, Jessie J and Eric Idle amongst others. Great stuff!

Quote by TV commentator “ It’s the biggest English triumph since 1966!!”

Sorry to say I thought it was a load of old tosh with the exception of a very few moments that ruined the fantastic achievements of the last 14 days.

Was that the best we could do? Video images and voiceovers with a token appearance of 'stars' and ageing rockers

‘Imagine’ by special arrangement with Yoko Ono (she should be on I’m a celebrity get me out of here, she’s been living off a dead beetle for years)

Annie Lennox (normally a great singer but doing Pirates of the Caribbean meets Interview with a Vampire was dire

Skating nuns with union flag Y fronts. Always a winner!

Suicide bomber on a high wire (what was that all about?)

Some big woman with a trident trying for her equity card

6 guys with bells on their legs trying to mug each other with sticks & a bunch of Bollywood dancers!?!

The Ukranian girls choreographed a routine in 10 secs.......best bit of the night

I normally love Emilie Sande BUT last night, in tune would have been good. (she wasn’t the only one)

George (here’s a song from my new album that by the way is being released on Saturday) Michael

Russell Brand!!!!! We have plumbed new depths here I'm afraid.

However…….Well done Gary Barlow for appearing at such a sad time

and for me, the highlight of the evening was the legend that is.. Edson Arantes do Nascimento

Whilst we are on a football moment, I would say the closing ceremony was a game of two halves.

On the positive side, I think the incidental choreography was very well done considering the number of people and length of event. I thought (and I can't believe I'm saying this) the Spice Girls were good. Take That doing what it says on the tin. It was good to see The Who (but I wish they wouldn't do the same old numbers as they have a huge back catalogue to draw on). Eric Idle did what he does best. Good to see a significant reference to John Lennon's Imagine. Nice to see a bit of Pink Floyd, even if only one original member was in the band. Fat Boy Slim being right here right now. Liam Galagher being Liam Galagher. No Cliff Richard. Ray Davis doing Waterloo Sunset with the crowd joining in. Ok, perhaps he hasn't got the voice now, but it was still a great moment.

On the negative side, Madness doing a set on a moving truck and getting lost in the noise. They should have been given time for a few numbers, as what band sums up London more than Madness? Annie Lennox getting weirder by the moment. A good Kate Bush number, but no Kate Bush. Three singers I had never heard of in Bentleys (I accept this may be because I am an old git). Brian May becoming more a parody of himself by the day. Did he really think a guitar solo matched the celebratory atmosphere, or was he just showing off? Muse, good band, wrong place. George Michael making the wrong song choice.

But the greatest omission of the evening?

No mention of the Rolling Stones. Unbelieveable!!!!

But, there again, that's just my view.
