Oh well, so much for satellite B/B then, not much better than Cytanet

And its costs more too

Funnily enough I've just been considering the choice between Cytanet and Satellite broadband for my internet access at home - think this might help make my mind up!

Why would you even consider Satelite B/B living in Peyia, don't they have a phone line over there or summit :?

You can use other ISP's apart from Cytanet tho, check the FAQ's mate, they're listed there

From posts made by Starchild on another forum i`m pretty sure she doesn't actually have a satellite service but a wireless broadband service.

starchild is connected to our wireless system, via the Kathikas node. Unfortunately, without any notice the Cypriot owners of the property that supplied the connection turned off the power and will not switch it back on. They have realised that they can hold me to ransom. I agreed to pay a monthly rent, however they have now decided to treble the agreed amount. I have another solution with an english owned property, so she will be back online by monday. Unfortunately, this outage is outside of my control, but a better solution is now found as the new property is not reliant on any mains services. The system reliability in Peyia/Paphos is actually better than i-choice (and slightly cheaper), and Verity has been on the system for about a year, with few problems.

Well !!! ...
First can I say welcome to the forum mate :D
Second. Has no one ever told you about doing business
with unscrupulous Cypriot landlords.

I heard of a Cypriot that was held up at gun point once.
The robber said "your money or your life"
To which the Cypriot replied TAKE MY LIFE , TAKE MY LIFE ..

Last but not least,, can you hurry up and get our moderator back online

Hi guys. I feel like I have lost a small furry part of my family when I am without my internet.

Digby is right. I have had very few problems with my wireless connection, and this little seems to be down to the greed and selfishness of someone who is thinking only of themselves and are possibly trying to pull a fast one. My connection - when it is up and running - has been much better than the Cyta connection I had in Emba.

And one other correction - it is actually cheaper per month than Cyta. Not by a lot, but it is certainly not more expensive than Cyta.

Digby will sort it out, I am sure. He has always been as prompt as possible in the past.

Good to hear you're getting sorted - to be fair, everything I have heard about Holitec previously has been very positive, seems a genuine alternative to Cytanet.

Digby came out this morning to tweak something on our roof  but there was nothing happening. It all seemed a bit grim for a couple of hours, but he just rang me to say he pinged me and I am on line. Yippee!

Long may it last. Thanks Digby.

Off to catch up on over 100 emails now. Catcha all later.

Glad to see Verity back on line. Actually, I put the system back on-line on sunday, but Verity did not connect. This morning, when I went round to adjust the antenna, I found that there was a bad connection on the power (sods law, two problems!). Then no signal - would you believe it, the battery just gave out!.

Anyway, Kathikas system back on, albeit running on a 12V lorry battery until the power is connected, good job I had some spare inverters lying around. Just got to remember to change the battery every couple of days now, but i am sure that Verity will remind me!. anyone got any spare 150w solar panels?

Digby
PS. bb now available in Armageti & Giolou via satellite

Too right I will remind you Digby. I did try to connect on Sunday, but it wouldn't let me. Apparently the lead had come out of the somethingorother under the computer desk.

All technophobes should have a Digby.
