A Tribute to Dreamboats & Petticoats
What memory is evoked when you read those two words? For those who have no idea what I am talking about Dreamboats & Petticoats is a musical based on songs from the late 1950's to the early 60's and has been a sell out in in London and other parts of the UK. D&P as it is affectionately known takes you back on a nostalgic trip of songs from the golden era of music. It was a time of innocence, expectations, the sexual revolution, poodle skirts and drainpipe jeans, beehives, false lashes, kitten heals and Gentlemen, do you remember your quiff? Men held car doors open for the ladies and you met friends in milk bars if you weren't at a local hop. Why am I telling you this? Well you now have the opportunity to be transported back to the time when girls were girly and men were not afraid to dance. The Paphos Zingers are launching their first fund raiser of 2013 for Cancer Patients Support Group and they have chosen D&P as their theme. Ali Harding Zingers Musical Director says, “Songs from this era cover a multitude of genres and they have stood the test of time. Even today's teenagers know some songs from this era. Many of these songs have great harmonies which is what the Zingers have become known for.” So there will be music to suit all tastes. The event takes place on Friday 26th April at the Marathounda Village Hall, 8.00 pm. There will be beverages on offer and a bar. At only €7.50 a ticket with proceeds going to CPSG, you will be entertained by the ultimate eclectic Rock Choir in Cyprus. Rose Taylor a Zinger member says, “We have hosted three of our own events last year without sponsorship, so we are delighted that for Dreamboats & Petticoats we have a wonderful sponsor in Jackie Sinnou of 2BBeautiful. She is a long standing consultant for cosmetic surgery and many other health related procedures. We are very grateful for her support”
There will be raffles and a prestigious auction on the night, again with the proceeds going to the Zingers charity for 2013 C.P.S.G.
A spokes person for the Zingers, Karen says, “ Our three events last year were all total sell outs. People who hadn't previously purchased tickets were told standing room only. It was sad when customers were phoning us a week before the event and we were sold out. We have now moved to a larger venue but I still fear it will not be large enough so we are not kidding when we say book your tickets early.”
They are still looking for further sponsorship and have many options to suit all levels of business. If your company can donate a prize for the evening this would not go unnoticed, you will honoured and thanked ceremoniously.
