i.e. Facebook, Bebo, MySpace etc - seem to be all the rage at the moment - anyone using these?

My other half spends ages on Facebook and reckons it's a good way of keeping loads of people up to date with what you're up to without having to send loads of individual emails, but I'm always a bit wary of putting personal stuff in the public domain. :halt

Plus, a lot of people seem to use them just to show off - look at how great my life is etc, which all seems a bit sad to me  I mean, if you're that busy having a great time, how come you spend so much time telling everyone about it??

I love using Facebook - I get to keep up with a lot of my friends and it has photo albums which you update, so I get to see all the new additions to the family, weddings I couldn't make, family photos etc. Makes it so very easy.

Just a fun way of emailing I suppose.

Postives : everyone you don't see or speak to can browse at their leisure and keep up to date with what is happening with you

Negatives : You don't see or speak to them because you (a) don't like them or (b) they don't like you so who cares if they are uptodate with you !

:D

Tricia, I am not sure I want to know what my youngest is up to half the time. I think it consists of Rizlas and aromatic herbs. If you get my drift.

They say the apple doesn't fall far from the tree, so I just keep hoping he will turn out okay like me and his Dad. Eventually.

Verity,

Of course your son will be ok - haven't we all gone through that stage.

My youngest one is still going through it, but he has the added responsibility now of his daughter  , although I am still waiting for pics of Monica (if she is still called that), as not sure if he is back in the UK yet or not. Apparently he only took his mobile phone and not a camera and Thai technology has a long way to go so he could not send me any photos by phone.

At least he has been sensible enough to put the wedding off and sort out the house he is having built for his family first, just wish I could help him out as 7,500 isn't a lot for a three bedroomed house is it? One of the things that annoys me slightly being here in Cyprus as if I had been in the UK I could have paid for it as a wedding and grandaughter pressie. Still that's life.

Hi All,

I've used facebook for a while now, for someone like me thats travelling frequently and away from home alot, it does keep me in touch with people, and the keeping up with friends (especially their photos) is also nice but then again email, skype and instant messengers could provide similar function..... (all of which I use as well)

I suppose its down to personal preferences, I like it, because I think any medium that helps me stay in touch is useful but equally I can understand why people have reservations.... and without a doubt there have been some security issues....

Anyway I'm on the Cyprus network if anyone wants to look me up ! :D

Cheers for now

Ian
