As always it depends on your mood & my first choice would always be the sax but any instrument played by a maestro sounds good and would vote for this one as well

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LI3wIHFQkAk

Incidentally if we have any budding musicians following the site, James only reached level 3 on the flute so don't give up

Two instruments: Fiddle and Accordian. But then again I like the Bazouki.

My wife, Rachel, plays the violin.

It sounds wonderful when she is playing.

I do like electric guitar as well.

Brilliant Maggie

Have had family from Oz staying with us for the past week so had a quick listen at didgeredo music. It didn't float my boat but this guy playing a simple instrument does

Violin is my favourite but then over the years I have loved the flute,a good rock drummer and in my dotage I have fallen in love with the Bazouki.

Bev both you & zorbathejock have mentioned the Bazouki & I admit I have no experience with this instrument. In fact I cannot even remember how it sounds  Lets have some interesting live links please

As a teenager , I would spend many nights alone in my room,
playing on my organ ..

Shirley many thanks for getting us back on topic & contributing to the music section. Seems the violin or "fiddle" is a popular instrument & top guy at the moment is Andre Rieu

Loads of great performances by him on YouTube but this one is just for fun. Enjoy

An instrument perhaps your dad or uncle played. I did but it didn't sound like this

It depends on my mood:

Fiddle for Irish music and dancing

Guitar as background music when working.

Piano to relax,

Oh Poppy sorry I didn't like that one. Fiddle is great, but most violins screech, at least they do to my hearing.

Jo I agree with your comment but my focus was on the harp & any instrument played with perfection & passion sounds good to me

Hi Jo,i think string instruments sound better if you listen with your eyes closed,i find it distracting if the player has a lot of body movement.

Nothing better than a solo piano when you hear this piece of music played on it, something about this piece of music

Excellent Jonny and Debbi.
If strings are your bag, they don`t come much better than this.

Excellent last two posts :clap Cannot think of a better way than listening to great music on a dreary day here in England :phones

Looks like the strings have it so far but have we missed percussion?

Dug out from the loft a classical guitar I bought my wife many years ago. The provenance says, built by Di Giorgio in 1975. Will not bore you with her experience of
lessons but she gave it up. So here I am with a restrung instument which still sounds good but without a clue what to do next. Too old (too tight :-( ) to take lessons any more so any members with experience of how I can get this instrument back into some sort of life
