Hi everyone, Ive just moved to Paphos last June and notice that theres not a lot of footy being played amongst us Expats in and around the Paphos region? Or am I wrong? Are there any teams or leagues out there like, for example, the Sunday leagues back in UK?

I am looking to start up (with your interest) an over 35 (Veterans) football team for Paphos. Plans are in their infancy so I would be keen to hear all your thoughts.

I am currently serving in the RAF and represent the RAF Cyprus football team out here and through playing for them I have established great contacts for games to be played out here on some great pitches. I am a UEFA licenced coach in outfield and goalkeeping and have managed an amateur team for five years before coming out here.

If you, or anyone you know aged 35 or over (old gits like me), would be interested in putting their boots on again, then please let me know by contacting me, Freddy on my mobile 97632056 or via this thread.

Hi Fred,

Sounds like a good idea - a few of us were talking about getting a Paphos People team together at some stage, probably 5-a-side initially - sadly I'm too young for your veterans team though (not often I get to say that these days! :D )

Hi mate, I would be more than interested in helping out in arranging any five a side leagues also in Paphos and would be keen to hear from any businesses out there that would be interested in sponsoring either the Vets Team or the five a side league. (Im only just in the Veterans bracket!!!!!!!).

This is the thread where we started talking about it before:

I don't know if there are any 5-a-side leagues in Paphos as such, but my original thought was to just get 10 of us of here for a kick-about and maybe take it from there?

Fredster,

Welcome to the board mate :D

We have a lot in common, I'm ex-RAF myself, having served here in 99-01, also played for the RAF back in my early days, so I'm up for a Vets team, so add my name

Martin may not be over 35 but he looks it, so he can be our secret weapon/ringer if we get a team together, will be good to meet up at the Launch Party & talk with someone RAF for a change, instea do of all these pongo's

Hi Stuart,

Thats very generous of you mate, does this mean you'll supply the strip with 'Novelty Vend' on the front too  or just the hats  but they would have to be in PaphosPeople colours

It would be good advertisement if it become a regular weekly/monthly get together, especially if Fred gets us into a league of some sorts.....

Oi! You're just miffed that you're not allowed out to the pub today! :P

Sadly my use in a ringer capacity would be limited - haven't played for over a year now so my fitness levels will resemble those of a "veteran" quite easily!
