And Why ? I mean Music wise. If you could only recommend three albums what would they be ?
Tell us who you are listening to, possibly why you are listening to it and would you recommend it to any one else ?
I'll start it off by saying I'm listening to Here And Now by America. Their first album for 9 years, it's great, but won't suit the young uns. I'm playing On an Island by Dave Gilmour, released a couple of years ago but still brill.
We are big fans of Daryl Hall and John Oates, have been for 35 years. Seen them loads of times and you need to hear their latest 4 albums. All class and all our friends agree.
What are you listening to ?

At the moment listening to Peter Frampton(Frampton Comes Alive )

3 Albums i would recommend would be,

Pink Floyd/Dark Side of the Moon.
Just for the sheer brilliance of making this kind of music in 1973.

Phil Collins/ Face Value.
One of the best albums of the 80's.

Kate Bush/ The Kick Inside,
Because it brings back great memories.

All the albums i have mentioned are such magical recordings and
released at times when music was in a bad state which for me
is why they will always be great music to listen too.

Good post Gary, should get people looking at their own music taste & wondering if anyone else as the same

I don't really listen to music in the house, to busy watch the TV  but if I had to chose my 3 most favorite albums, at present it would have to be:

Nickleback - Silver Side Up - love listening to the words on most of these songs
The Verve - Urban Hymns - reminds me of very good times :!:
Celine Dion - Falling into you - reminds me of the Falklands & calms me down

I love so many different songs & artist, I could list a hundred but if I was stuck on a desert island, these would be my chosen 3

I am a big fan of Phil Collins , I had all his stuff back then.
face value , no jacket required ,but seriously.
though never got to much into Genesis ...
Ultravox was another one I liked .
But at the moment I am into,
black eyed peas ..

It's like stepping into a timewarp coming into this thread! (and no that isn't a reference to my musical preferences!) :D

My favourites fluctuate all the time, and depends a lot on my mood - have been through something of a retro phase recently, listening to some old Motown and Country classics, but at the moment my most listened to are:

Killers - Sam's Town
The Waterboys - Best of
Snow Patrol - Eyes Open

Not too keen on albums, I just get my mp3 out and fill it with great songs.

Just now I have for example:

Timbaland (all his songs are fab)
The Who
Gwen Stefani
Cold Play
Mike and the Mechanics
Paul Potts
J Lo
and you can't beat a bit of Abba!

I'm just a disco diva at heart! :P

I appear to have "heavier" tastes than most ! :guitar
My "working set list" tends to be Soundgarden - Badmotorfinger ; Green Day - Dookie ; Hard-Fi - Stars of CCTC ; Foo Fighters - The Colour And The Shape.

But like most if i can't decide then its random mode through the MP3 player.

a few years back i went through "a phase" and used to DJ trip-hop, breakbeat and drum n bass at UV filled venues so that gets the odd airing :party

My favourite Green Day singles are Wake me up when September ends, Time of your life & Boulevard of broken dreams.

If I am working out, Billy Idol's Rebel Yell and another of my favourites Stiltskin's Inside has to be a must!

I think the only Soundgarden song I've heard is Black Hole Sun.

When I lived in Edinburgh, we used to hit all the dance clubs like Fire Island, Peppermint Lounge, etc and for drum and bass it was always the Bongo club or Liquid rooms. Bit of Salsa at Cuba Norte and disco at Disco Inferno or Le Freak - thems were the days!

Then there was always the yearly Cream festival out at Ingilston or out by the airport. Chemical Brothers played live there the first year I went, fantastic night from what I remember - there was a Bacardi Rigo tent that were selling bacardi rigo slush puppies mmmmmmmmmmmm!

Very rarely buy anything any more. Just download it. Oops - us and how many million others?

Anyway, Greenday (colours green, yellow and black were emblazoned all over my teenaged son's room for several years) and Foo Fighters are etched in my memory as my kids blasted them out. Kieran used to tease us for listening to Bob Dylan - old man's music - but then got into his work. I love Slow Train Coming, but that is because me and Mr. Zimmerman got "born again" around the same time.

I love U2, David Bowie, Pink Floyd and have seen them all live. Also BB King, Argent and the Madman Across the Water album by Elton John. I listen to The Waterboys, Pink, Nickleback - infact, I listen to loads of stuff that I can't always name, but I know all the words to. Anyone remember Tin Machine?

I think this thread might even entice Spanna to contribute.

Yes, Russ. Went to see them at the Civic Hall in Wolverhampton. He didn't want to be the main man, but how could he not? I remember fighting my way to the stage when he was in his Ziggy Stardust era. I reached out and touched him then promptly fainted and got carted off to the main entrance by a policeman who thought he was helping me. I was most put out!

I was only 14 at the time though.

As for Hawkwind, I used to get in free with the roadies when they were at the Civic. It was only 50p a ticket, but that was my week's pocket money in them days.

Them were the dayzzzz.
