I'm not aware of having changed anything on my settings on my emails on Outlook, but today all the things that usually go through to my Junk folder are coming straight through to my main email.

I'm marking them as junk and trying to block them, but the majority of them come up with a message saying they can't be blocked as the email address of the sender isn't valid. A lot of them are showing as having been sent from MY email address too!

Could someone please advise what I can do to get the junk sent directly to the Junk folder again please.
Any suggestions also welcome as to why the senders show as my email address.

Thank you!

Micro$oft, in their infinite wisdom called the e mail program that is part of their 'Office Suite' = Outlook

Then they made an e mail program for Windows 95/98/XP and called it = Outlook Express

Then they decided that their hotmail (webmail) service should be called = Outlook

So, first of all, which are you referring to?

A lot of spam emails are sent out with a spoof email "from" address, which in this case appears to be yours.

If that is correct you cannot mark your own email address as spam.

This has happened to me before where I started getting spam purporting to come from me. After a couple of days it stopped and went back to the usual spam!

If the emails are coming in with the same, or very similar, headings you can set up a rule to delete emails with a particular subject heading, which should solve the problem. If you do this though, be careful as you may inadvertently block legitimate emails with similar headings.

JB,
Thanks for your response.
It's the webmail Outlook.

Effsie,
Thanks for that reply. The junk's all different titles. I've blocked the senders I can though.

Thanks MAD.
I usually change it quite regularly but haven't for a while, so I've done that now.

An update:

I changed my password and also Googled further to see if I could find any answers.

Apparently a few others have had the same problem and it's because a lot of junk has started having hyphens in the addresses and Outlook doesn't weed them out as junk or let you block them.

So I set up a rule to send addresses with hyphens straight to my deleted box and it seems to have worked.
Junk in my Junk box (without hyphens in the address) can be blocked and all the other crap goes straight to the deleted box.
I've also stopped getting emails from myself :-)

Hi Ellie B,
I have exactly the same problem, I'd be interested to know the steps taken so
I could copy what you've done, as I can't find a way of setting it up, or maybe a link I could follow.
I'm using Outlook as you are by the way.
Thanks in advance for any help.

Hi Gelly,

I've sent you a private message with the process I went through.

I had issues with Outlook for Windows 10 from day 1, the solution I found was to change to an alternative provider.
The one I selected does not relay data to 'Big Brother' in the USA!
