Hello all,
We are looking for the cheapest deal NEW car 2017, either 4x4, AWD or similar, have looked at most but not impressed.
Ideally will have a low pollution figure, very good fuel consumption e.g. 80 mpg or Litres per 100 equivalent or more, be big enough to seat 4 or 5 average adults.Tried to get a drive in the Mitsubishi PHEV hybrid but the car dealers are not interested and only want to sell us diesels
Anyone have views on this? Thanks

Not many hybrid SUVs are available, you may need to buy a used Japanese import. I have only seen Lexus in SUV category.
Some Honda's and Toyota Prius cars around.

Have you checked out the Skoda - I think it's a Yeti. It's 4x4 and OH (a confirmed twincab fan) was impressed with its looks and abilities. If we didn't need a twincab, I suspect we'd be looking at buying a Skoda instead.

Are there really vehicles that can approach these figures for fuel economy?

Intrigued by the question, I did a short trawl & found this site;

https://www.fueleconomy.gov/feg/best/bestworstNF.shtml

It seems there are some models available providing significant mpg!
Maybe it's time to consider an upgrade?

However, those with mpg above 100mpg are subject to this qualification;

"For electric vehicles, a conversion factor is used to translate the fuel economy from kWh/100 miles into miles per gallon of gasoline equivalent (MPGe)."

Given the frequency of power cuts in Cyprus, maybe I'll wait awhile!
