Does anyone know where I can find, on-line, the Road Tax fees for next year and how they are calculated? Have the early pay discounts been approved yet?
Thanks,
Amos.

Fair enough, just we like to budget for the year in advance.
There had been press reports of 50% discount if paid within the first week of January, from
what you say maybe (?) that has gone by the board.
Thanks,
Amos.

Don’t know where you have seen the 50% and USUALLY the system isn't set up to take payments before the 10th

I posted this on 15 June
NEW ROAD TAX BILL
A new bill is the works that would change how you pay and also how much road tax you pay depending on how soon you pay it.
Vehicle owners who pay by January 15 will get a 20% discount
Those paying between January 16 and 31 will be able to save 15%.
Those paying on or after February 1 but no later than March 10 will pay the full price.
Vehicle owners paying after March 10 will be given €10 fine and a 10% charge of the annual amount.
Registration periods that are issued quarterly and semi-annually will be discontinued under the new law.
The legislation is expected to be drafted and voted into law in September.

Thanks for that. 20%, not 50%; I remember now (old age catching up on me).
There was also press reports last month about EU rules about vehicle emissions etc
meaning many road taxes would need to increase in order for Cyprus to comply.
No numbers were given - so the whole thing seems to be undecided.
Par for the course?
Amos.

UPDATE

Vehicle owners can renew their road tax for 2019 as from January 7, the Road Transport Department said on Thursday.

This can be done online on http://rtd.mcw.gov.cy, at commercial banks, at citizen’s services centres, district post offices and the headquarters and district offices of the Road Transport Department.

The last date for renewals is Monday, March 3, 2019. After that date there will be a surcharge. And as from Tuesday, March 12 police will start booking offenders.

Road tax can be renewed for three, six, nine or 12 months. Vehicles must have an MOT and insurance.

Those not planning on renewing their road tax should notify the department that they are immobilising their vehicle and submit the necessary form, alternatively they will owe the equivalent sum to the state.
