I'll be going to the UK for a short visit to relatives who don't have a landline anymore nor any form of Internet access. They have just very simple basic Nokia mobile phones now, as I do.

I've read that you can purchase a USB Dongle plug it into my Laptop which connects you to the Internet via the UK mobile network G3 or G4. And that you can use it on Pay As You Go terms.

Anyone done this and does it work? Can I buy a Dongle in Paphos and set it up before I go to the UK. Thanks.

Some new phones have "give out WiFi" setting, if your plan include data. Then your PC would connect to it by WiFi,

But not "basic Nokia phones"

The correct name is 'tethering' (from your mobile smart phone) - some networks allow it as part of their package .. some charge extra, but I guess you don't have internet/data on your phone so won't have any packages???

I believe that Three (UK) do the sort of things that you are looking for, but maybe ask your friends as to which is the best network (for signal) where they live

I have used a simple 'plug in' USB dongle a few years back, but can't seem to see any on the two sites that I have linked to ..

EDIT - I've copied your question to the MSE forum, hope someone there will have a better idea.
