Can anyone advise if our car insurance for the TRNC is also valid in mainland Turkey?
We are thinking maybe of a trip over there by ferry to Mersin.
Thanks,
Amos.

Unless it has changed recently then no, the car insurance is valid only in the TRNC.

However, worth asking your car insurance company as it is possible to travel out of Cyprus for up to 90 days. We were thinking of taking our vehicle via Turkey to Greece and it would have been covered for 90 days but I think for 3rd party only.

Thanks for that Alexis, most useful.
I will do that.

This is only a guess, but I would be surprised if any insurance issued in the Republic would be valid overseas if you left Cyprus via an illegal port.

Well of course my TRNC car insurance is not issued in the ROC, it was issued in the TRNC.
Turkey does not regard a TRNC port as illegal (the only country that doesn't).
Hence my question.
Amos.

The insurance company was aware that we would be driving to the TRNC and taking a ferry to mainland Turkey and making the return trip the same way.
