Hello,

Can anyone recommend a cleaner (pref. based in Paphos / Universal) that will do a good job for a reasonable fee ?

I have a tenant moving in on the 20th Feb. and the apartment and patio just need a sweep (no mopping). Probably no more than 30 mins work.

I've tried to arrive at an agreed fee with the lettings agent without success.

Preferably an email address please.

Thanks,

John

Try Sue Hunt on 99772982. She lives close by.

Unfortunately Sue retired from cleaning a few years ago.

Can anyone recommend anyone else ?

( Preferably in the Paphos / Universal area )

Thanks,

John

Most people wouldn't be interested in just doing 30 minutes work, particularly as you have said that you don't want to pay them very much.

If you have a tenant moving in, why not have the place cleaned properly? I am sure the tenant would appreciate it plus you will find it a lot easier to get someone to do it for you.

...and what kind of fee would you suggest ?
It's literally half an hour's work. The average rate of pay in Paphos is €5 or €6 per hour.
I'm willing to pay a lot more than that. Maybe €25. That's the same as €50 per hour.

And what do you mean by "get it cleaned properly" ?
It only needs sweeping so what would be the point of paying a lot for work that doesn't need doing ?

It's at ground level (so no stairs to climb)
A quick easy job for someone who is in Universal or close by.

By the way I'm not in Cyprus.

A cleaner, or cleaning company, would clean the place top to bottom. I have never seen your apartment, but if you are not in Cyprus, how can you know it just needs sweeping? If it is cleaned properly you will have no concerns and the place will smell nice and clean for the new tenant.

How do I know ?
Because the letting agent said it just needs a sweep.

Either get the agent to do it (hence having an agent), of offer the tenant 25 discount on first months rent.

I have finally managed to agree a fee for the cleaning with the lettings agent so I won't need my own cleaner ...at least not this time, however there might be occasion when I need someone in the not too distant future.

I have many years experience of being a landlord both here and in the UK and I can guarantee you'll be needing more than a quick sweep through in future! Even though contract should state that when vacating the property must be left in the same state it was when the rental started it doesn't work that way every time!

I would look to build a relationship with a cleaning company if I were you.

"Difficult for myself "?

I asked the lettings agent for a cleaning quote more than once without receiving a reply.

It was only when I told the lettings agent that I had eventually found my own cleaner and gave the lettings agent a quote for doing it and a date and time that he came back to me with a figure for cleaning.

If anyone was making life difficult it was the lack of communication and slow communication from the lettings agent.

If I hadn't gone to the trouble of getting my own quote from my own cleaner the lettings agent would have said nothing and charged whatever he wanted, i.e deducted whatever he wanted from the gross rent.

By the way the apartment will be rented from Feb. 20th and has been empty and not rented prior to that date. I cleaned it extensively in September myself. Hence why no extensive cleaning required apart from a sweep. Perhaps people didn't understand that and that's why "just a sweep" was questioned.
