I had to go to the pharmacy this afternoon and decided to stock up with some fresh fruit and vegetables at Chloraka Papantoniou.

Some areas, notably the homeware area and stationery section are taped off and there is no access to these areas. I had read a report on Pissouri FB group this morning that sections had been closed and this was confirmed by my visit this afternoon.

I have read various stories ranging from the fact that these items are not deemed essential, to the police imposing a fine to the shop (€1000 in one case) if these items are sold to the reason being that other shop owners who have had to close resent the fact that these items can be sold in a supermarket.

Some of the upstairs of the Paps at the harbour is also taped off so yes I agree with both it and the explanation!

Supermarkets sold these items even when there wasn’t a lock down.
Really sounds like ‘sour grapes’
People are taking the opportunity to keep busy and to do repairs and decoration whilst they are at home anyway AND still putting money into the economy by buying these items.
Over 65’s could get items like printer cartridges to print their forms if they run out of ink
SOME supermarkets are selling masks in their DIY sections, are they ‘essential’ or optional?
Who decides what is ‘essential’? Is wine an ‘essential’, is beer and ‘essential’ is chocolate an ‘essential’ my wife says wine and chocolate certainly are
What next? Will the pubs complain the supermarkets are selling alcohol?

I would have thought household items normally for sale in the supermarkets were far more essential than the garden centres being open to the public.

Also having thought about this again if kids are being home schooled then why block the sale of pens, paper, note pads etc?!
