Hi all

Does any one know if it is okay yet to have things posted from the uk to here Cyprus?

I had some very important medicines track posted from the uk on the 16 th March and they are showing as left the uk in the 17th March and no more tracking

So need to see if I can have more of these tablets sent here as out of stock here in Cyprus

But no point having more sent to be lost enroute

I posted a story from the Cyprus Mail last week saying that posting to and from the UK was restarting last Friday, 3 April.

Hi all,

I want to send a parcel to a friend of mine in Peyia as it is his birthday, went to the local post office and was told the following.

We're accepting letters and parcels destined for Cyprus, however, delays may be experienced as air connections have been severely limited.

Basically they are accepting mail to International destinations, however in some cases they are stacking up in the hubs due to restricted flights, also there are manning problems due to safe working regulations.

You can send your letters or your parcel and if they are granted permission to send on a certain flight, the receiving country may have distribution problems and different handling regulations due to the virus.

I have declined to send my parcel, there is no guarantee that it will arrive when I want it to, and the chances it may get lost or damaged.

Hope this helps

Thank you for that low voltage

I am worried ...because my tablets will be needed by June!

And two lots are somewhere out there at the moment parked!

Fingers crossed ...that they arrive soon

I am thinking of holding on until the end of April before buying to be delivered again

But seriously needed meds!

Couriers are still available to send and receive..got parcel from DHL yesterday...driver phoned me and said he would leave parcel at door since he had to maintain distancing.

The guy asked mt to send a text message to confirm delivery instead of signing

Double check with them to make sure they are still OK for deliveries 26 653320

Hello Again,

To help those who need urgent parcels I have rang DHL & UPS,- In my words as best as I can remember.

Both tell me that as far as they are concerned they are still operating a delivery service, they go on to say that they are modifying their operations as the situation develops.

Unless stated on their web site they can virtually guarantee deliveries to Cyprus, they do not have the same constraints because they are not carrying passengers, freight is handled under different conditions, again recommended that you check their web site or your local couriers.

They did say that there could be slight delays at local offices, they do not envisage severe delays but check the web sites, as one said no more than 48 hours delay, but in any industry you cannot legislate for unforeseen problems (fair enough).

Next port of call was Royal mail, this is where it gets interesting - They recommend that if in the UK you use Parcelforce world wide which is a designated parcel carrier, she said in most cases it is also cheaper than sending via Royal Mail, will not bore with why, sending back to the UK if use Parcelforce web site and they connect you with one of their overseas partners (bit messy in my opinion).

Anyway hope this helps, if anyone needs more info glad to help, just PM and I will try.

Small update on post deliveries. Went to the main post office this afternoon to check our post box. Whilst there was nothing in it, when I opened the flap on our box I could see crates full of post on the floor, presumably (hopefully), waiting for someone to put them in the boxes.

Has anyone actually had a parcel delivery through the postal system (Not Courier)

The only 'mail' we have received is our electricity bill and a car insurance reminder.

I KNOW we have 2 parcels from Amazon that arrived 'on the island' in early March but no delivery or notification

Checked our PO Box again. Still empty, but there are still all the letters and parcels in the cages that you can see when you open the box. I guess they could be waiting to be sent abroad, rather than waiting to be put in the PO Boxes.

Still not received my registered mail posted on the 16th March in the uk and tracked to leaving the uk on the 17th March ...tracking stopped on the 17th March...saying posted abroad

My other tablets in letter post arrived at Cresswells freight in the uk on the 26th March (RSS) and I have no idea now where that one is either at the moment ...I am sure it will arrive ...but when.

So still no very important medicines here yet...awaiting answer today from the chemists direct ...re them sending via DHL to here

I am getting worried as my tablets will run out in 6 weeks time

Nothing will happen before Wednesday now due to Easter, but fingers crossed it will still arrive.

Forgive my ignorance, but how are RSS involved in letter post?

Because I sent my registered mail to their uk Cresswells address...they are very good at delivering parcels and things from the uk to RSS

We have had other parcels delivered

And asked this time if I could have my medicines delivered to them to get to here also

Not going to dwell on it, but that is one company I would never use, but I hope you get them.

I've never used RSS, been using Lee Horne for years, excellent service and never had a problem. www.lhukcy.com delivery takes 4 weeks via container and very reasonable prices.

migmogs - did you manage to get your medicines? I have been getting post in my PO Box at Anavargos for the last few days, including my printer ink, posted from the UK in early March, so things look to be picking up.

It is 3 months worth of Medicine arrived today ...9 months worth still out there
You can only buy 3 months worth at one time

It is such a relief ...I have been getting so frightened and stressed out

What I might do now....is get another 3 months worth bought and have them sent through with RSS again....because let’s be honest 3 months will soon pass lol

And I don,t want to feel this stressed again

I am feeling pretty great that they are here :woohoo :woohoo :woohoo

Stay safe all

Sent some important stuff with DHL from the UK 15th March and got it signed for and picked up at Paphos on the 23rd March and may be collected earlier if not bank holiday, cost £21.00 and you can track it yourself.

Today I picked up a small package from the Post Office containing a book from Amazon posted on 11th March. It may have arrived earlier this week but I didn’t pick it up until today. So things are gradually arriving.
