If you have been watching the news regarding the tourist industry, a spokesman for the Government has said that he doubts that there will be any International holidays this year.

Today's news the Spanish have said anyone coming into Spain must self isolate for 14 days, well who is going to book a holiday and spend it locked in a villa or Hotel, so what are Cyprus plans? is the virus going to kill off a lot of Cypriot hotels and villa rentals, I think Cyprus are going to suffer this year.

In my opinion, the Cypriot economy may take a massive hit and some may not recover.

At the moment ...Cyprus has the same outlook
If you fly into Cyprus you are going to be quarantined for 14 days on arrival

My daughter and her family ...where caught up at the beginning of the Covid situation as Spain locked down and they where quarantined into their hotel in Spain with no use of the beach or sea

My 2 year old grandson returned to the uk with the virus ....they quarantined and isolated immediately on landing ...and have stayed isolated for these last 2 months ...working from home...the virus does travel! They have said...that they would never go through that again! It was all so stressful and not good for anyone!

Flights into and out of countries right now for holidays is not good news

I last read that Cyprus was trying to encourage internal holidays for people living here

And they are also looking at countries with low levels of virus to travel here as a possibility ...with everyone having been virus checked before they are allowed to fly in ...but with a 14 day incubation time...still a risky thing to do

But people need jobs and incomes...
there are some desperately poor people here in Cyprus now who desperately need to go back to work
So what is the answer!

First move for Cyprus would be to jointly with Greece leave the EUSSR so that they can make their own independent decisions and not rely on the Germans for whom tourism isn't one of their main GDP earners. With the aid of the World Bank, not the ECB, that's already bankrupt, or the IMF, get debt relief programmes to recover their economies.

This was in today’s Cyprus Mail

The government are looking at ruling out quarantine....but still putting strict measures into force for entry into Cyprus

The holiday companies are trying to get you tom accept vouchers, a replacement like for like voucher and last of all cash back. I have contacted Easy Jet who have agreed a cash return, the holiday company say that it wont be until after 31st of July before they begin processing cash back.

Why would you even consider that at the moment? While it is unlikely that you would catch the Wuhan Bat Virus at present, if opening the tourist market caused a massive surge in infections, chances are that either the Cyprus government or the UK government would instigate further lockdowns and you may not be able to get home. Would you then be expecting the UK government to rescue you?

I was meaning for future holidays not imminent .We've come to an agreement with a hotel regarding prices and storing luggage £40 saving, we pick a car up at the airport and drop it off there so we save £90 on transfers.

In 1998 We booked a flight through a travel agent to Nashville £499 each
In 1999 We booked a flight ourselves via the internet £199 each plus we brought a Bass back which was £1499 in the UK £806 Nashville.

Saw them in Cyprus when stationed there in 66/7, think they were a different colour back then.

As a reverse to your query ....
I heard a large aircraft over my house a few minutes ago. I checked 'flightradar' and found that it's a British Airways 777 (left Larnaca and bound for Heathrow ... eta 10.17pm ).
I bet that there are a few British passengers who are relieved to be on their way home at last.
