UK scientists have discovered that an existing drug called dexamethasone can significantly reduce mortality in serious cases ofcovid. Apparently it does not help in less severe cases but in the most severe that require help with breathing. Best of all it is cheap and so could really help those in poor countries.
They are also very cautiously hopeful of a vaccine which could be ready to use by the autumn.
I think the UK should be proud of our scientist leading the field in this and about time the media supported our achievements rather than always criticising and let us not forget that they are only able to do this by the huge investment by the Government.

There is also this reported here

AstraZeneca Plc has signed a contract with European governments to supply the region with its potential vaccine against the coronavirus, the British drugmaker’s latest deal to pledge its drug to help combat the pandemic.

The contract is for up to 400 million doses of the vaccine, developed by the University of Oxford, the company said on Saturday, adding that it was looking to expand manufacturing of the vaccine, which it said it would provide for no profit during the pandemic. The vaccine is still in clinical trials. If the trial results convince regulators the vaccine is safe and effective, deliveries would be expected to start by the end of 2020.

Indeed, a drug of minimal cost that has been kicking around for years can now be seen as a partial solution. At only 5.40 per treatment I wonder why it was kept under wraps for so long!!

Probably because it was part of a trial of many 'existing' drugs that had to go through the testing process and clinical trials to find out if it worked. These trials take many weeks if not months to evaluate. There could be even more existing drugs that are even more effective and cheaper but are still being (or have to be) tested

"The low-dose steroid treatment dexamethasone is a major breakthrough in the fight against the deadly virus, UK experts say.
The drug is part of the world's biggest trial testing existing treatments to see if they also work for coronavirus."

"The RECOVERY trial was launched in April as a randomised clinical trial to test a range of potential treatments for COVID-19, including low-dose dexamethasone and the malaria drug hydroxychloroquine. The hydroxychloroquine arm was halted earlier this month after Horby and Landray said results showed it was “useless” at treating COVID-19 patients."

Probably because there is no MASSIVE profits for Big Pharma who are desperate to develop a vaccine which may only work for a short time (if at all), will harm your immune system and they hope to sell it worldwide and mandatory to everyone if they can get away with it. Makes you wonder why Tony Fauci and Bill Gates both predicted a world pandemic in 2020.

Not true! The scientist said at last evenings briefing that the trial had been ongoing for some time as has to be the case obviously to assess its value in treatment and he advised that there are several other trials ongoing with other existing drugs which they hope may also be successful. The vaccine,if successful is apparently going to be provided at cost. The scientists expressed their gratitude for all the very ill people in the UK that volunteered to be guinea pigs and also the volunteers, such as Matt Hancock, who have had the virus and are now donating their plasma.
There is a lot going on in the UK at the moment and about time the media gave some credit.

If you want some evidence covering what I said about Bill Gates just click on this link, there are plenty of other similar ones out there.

By the way, it doesn't take a few months to develop a successful and SAFE vaccine, it takes many years.

For every site offering 'evidence' about Bill Gates, there are as many debunking the conspiracy theories

You can believe what you like, but the term 'conspiracy theory' has changed it's meaning from exposing fake news to being used to cover up uncomfortable truths that prominent people and big pharma want to discredit. They know with social media the stories can't be stopped being reposted so it's the only tool they have left. If they were false accounts legal action would be taken, but it's not because they don't want the truth to become even more widespread.
