A sum of 62% of the new COVID-19 cases announced in the Republic of Cyprus during the first two weeks of July were imported, while 38% were locally-acquired.

Anybody happy to welcome tourists to Cyprus, especially those including Covidiots from the UK?

The decision is then money or your health - tricky one. Which ever way the politicians call it they will be wrong in some peoples eyes.

Cypriot politicians are more than aware that Turkey and northern Cyprus are eagerly waiting to pounce on the southern Cyprus tourist trade and offer lockdown-free flights and cheaper holidays. It's the UK tour operators that make the decision where to offer all-inclusive holidays to their clients. We shall see!

My chest Doctor told me to stay away from strangers (tourists) when, or if, they ever arrive.

She is an excellent Doctor and has looked after me for many years.

Most people arriving from category C countries are staying home and isolating for 14 days even with a negative covid test on arrival as mandated by Cyprus government...the fine for breaking this mandate is upto 3000 euros

But some are definitely out there ...heard of a few now ...from the uk ...arrived into Cyprus and are out in the shops, bars and Resteraunts from day 1 ...the ones I have heard of are in the Peyia area...one guy bragging on line that last night he was in Nature Restaurant in Sea Caves and then Wood Bar? Think near to Frog and Toad

He was asked repeatedly online on FB to please go home and self isolate to no avail
He is stupidly out and about

So watch out ...he and others are out and could be passing the virus on
As let’s be honest ...most of our virus cases have sadly come from people flying in from the uk
Case in question the last 2 cases developed the virus here in Cyprus after flying in over a week ago negative!

You can bet your bottom dollar ...that when they are out shopping that not one mask will be being worn or hands sanatized

Stay safe all

We like you Alan are staying home mostly ...no hardship sitting outside sharing a bottle of wine...looking at the stars ...and only eating out occasionally at early doors ...sitting outside away from everyone with a breeze blowing ...to give me a break from cooking ...as our Dr has asked us to stay away also to stay safe...we are of course still wearing masks in our once a week supermarket shop

UK pauses daily coronavirus death toll update over data concerns........Anyone else 'suspect' the figures could be 'massaged' to make the UK look safer? :tickedoff :huff

Nurses where quoted weeks ago ...upset saying that deaths where being attributed to covid 19 that shouldn,t have been attributed ...and that they didn,t like what the NHS where doing. They put the fault with NHS bosses
Eg people sadly dying from Alzheimers, heart attacks, strokes, advanced cancers, old age etc etc where put down as Covid 19 when they where not
I also read a story and watched the video weeks ago where one family where up in arms because their fathers death certificate read Covid 19 when it absolutely was not what he died from...he was in the advanced stages of Alzheimers disease and they where demanding that covid 19 was taken off his death certificate

So maybe their is truth in the numbers not having been done correctly

The nurses blamed NHS bosses very high up for this command that they had to follow and not the uk government by the way

The problem has been that Public Health England have attributed any death of a person who has ever tested positive to COVID 19 to the virus , without regard to how long ago it was that they had it and even if they died in a road accident or something unrelated . In Scotland and Wales they are not counted as deaths due to the virus after 28 days so it makes the England total artificially high . It also means that the statistics would show that no one ever recovers From the virus in England, so they need to alter the system to bring it into line with the rest of the UK . It has been reported on the BBC , Telegraph , Sky etc if anyone wants to read about it .

You may remember I posted this little video a month or so ago about UK inflating the figures. You can't argue with this.

We moved back to the UK and now live in a small seaside resort in East Yorkshire. There has been very little Covid 19 compared with the big cities and towns, but now the government have re opened the caravan sites, they are flocking in in their thousands ( yes thousands) bringing it with them. Madness, we are going nowhere except one early morning shop for the whole weeks grocery needs, coming home, anti bacterial wiping of all shopping, stripping off clothes and putting them in the wash, having a shower and clean clothes.

Yes I know exactly what you mean Bev. Our Morrisons opened here in March and we have never been in - we keep saying we must but the influx of tourists puts us off so we are still having deliveries! However it is 23 weeks since I last visited a hairdresser but I am going next Saturday - just cannot last out any longer!! All the B&Bs here are full as are the caravan parks. We take the dogs to the beach at 6.00 am and the poo bins are overflowing!! Why oh why if the poo bin is full can you not take it home with you?!! We have met various of the men who do this unenviable task and they should not be expected to grovel around on the ground to pick up rubbish!! Rant over!!
Still glad to be back in the UK despite the problems and sitting out on the patio in the glorious sunshine having a glass of wine earlier reminded me of Paphos - we just did not have the pool - just the bird bath!!!
