It appears unfortunately that covid is out of control in the UK. Over 12000 new cases today which is really frightening.I wonder what the Cyprus Government are going to do now - will they put the UK back to Cat C?
Cases are exceptionally high where I live in the North East and hundreds of students test positive. One student was quoted as saying that some who have tested positive are still going out and then socialising with other students in their rooms - unbelievable!!

PT, Where did you get these figures from? on the news it was 7,000, okay not good but not 12K, link below is a good source of information and more accurate.

Scroll down and it gives the world figures, at the top of the columns, there are headings Now - Yesterday - Two days ago, click on either one and the correct figures come up.

My heart goes out to every student who is imprisoned in their warm rooms, with flowing hot and cold water right now. It must be hellish with all that internet service, smart phones and friends. How the hell are you all coping? How can they do this to you?
I mean all those marches and protests that some of you participated in can’t be anything to do with these high numbers of covid?
The new anxiety you are reporting must only come on now because when you faced the police you seemed so strong and assertive!
It must be terrifying for you all in those terrible conditions of four walls and safety.

Meanwhile.... there are over 6,000 homeless veterans on the streets

If you read the article carefully this is what is says, piece extracted.

However, the government said a technical issue meant some cases this week were not recorded at the time so these were included in Saturday's data.

That is an over inflation of the figures it still is 7000 cases not 12,000, in the words of TRUMP fake NEWS, but 7K is still not good.

The media especially the BBC are scaremongering again.

It is life, but not as we know it. Whoever said that ( I believe it was off star trek) they must have foreseen 2020 !
We are fighting an unseen, unheard enemy and some people are their own worst enemy.
Why can't people cope with making sacrifices for the good of all ?
I am heartily sick of the moaning, groaning, complaining, bleating members of the entitled generations we have bred .
They will not be denied any pleasures regardless of the risks and as a result, we are going to be suffering from Covid for another year at least.

UK records 12,594 new cases
There have been 12,594 new coronavirus cases recorded in the UK, according to the government's coronavirus dashboard.

It brings the total number of cases to 515,571.

This comes after nearly 16,000 coronavirus cases went unreported in England between 25 September and 2 October, delaying contact tracing efforts.

There were a further 19 deaths recorded on Monday, bringing the total number of fatalities of those who had tested positive for the virus within the previous 28 days to 42,369.

Covid hospital cases jump 25% in a day in England

The number of people admitted to hospital with coronavirus on one day has jumped by a quarter in England.

There were 478 people admitted to hospital on Sunday - the largest daily figure since early June - up from 386.

More than two-thirds of those were in the North West, North East and Yorkshire.

It comes as a further 14,542 cases were confirmed across the whole of the UK on Tuesday. That daily figure has trebled in a fortnight.

Just over 14K and 70 deaths could be 'fake news' but I doubt it :huff

Even 'the world meter' is showing over 14K

SO NOT FAKE NEWS.

I had to go to hospital on Monday was there quite a while, I got talking to the nurse who was looking after me, I asked about the virus numbers and why there were a differences in what people see, she said it is how the numbers are collected.

Basically the figures are collected from different sources and collated, a lot of the data does not get inputted on time or as shown on the news missed off the days figures, this has a knock on effect, what she also said there are too many people getting involved.

Apparently the figures from the devolved nations within the UK have different collation times, this has a knock on effect with the overall collection of data for that day, this more prevalent over the weekends, makes a lot of sense.
