Went to the transport department this morning to ‘exchange’ our UK Driving Licenses for Cypriot
Place was chaotic

Finally got to speak to ‘a person’ who said the rules had changed again about what documents were required.
We now need our old driving licence + 3 photocopies
Last 3 Electricity bills + 3 copies to prove address
Because the electricity bills are only in my name and my wife’s license is in her own name….we need an affidavit from the court to prove we are married and living at the same address…marriage certificate + 3 copies + confirmation document from Muktar that we reside at the same address.
Passports + 3 copies of details page
Over 65’s letter for both of us from doctor that we are fit to drive
MEU1 residency certificate for each + 3 copies

:huff :doh :huff :tickedoff

I went to the motor transport department office in Limassol for mine. Nice day out and the staff are so much more pleasant and much, much quicker!

WATCH OUT

I am hearing this morning that if your 'medical certificate' is older than 3 days..they will not accept it and you have to get a new one :doh :tickedoff

From my experience of government offices I will now always use the citizen centre if at all possible. Pre eu days I had to register a "V" plate car " duty free" and excha ge my UK licence for a Cyprus one, do my best not to go back there.

As far as I know you cannot change your driving licence at a CSC, it has to be the transport department offices.

Correct ...department of transport .....it is also what we had to do ...make an appointment to be seen by Department of Transport people ...then queue to have photo taken ...at the front desk...it was mayhem

And sounds still like mayhem now...but with new rules added

Wishing you well Dave

Went to go to the court to get the sworn affidavit for the Traffic Department to confirm my wife is my wife
Turned up and notice on door that because of Covid 19, all affidavits would be signed at the window to stop people having to enter the building. Went to the appropriate window with our form duly filled in and ready to sign in front of a witness to find a Cypriot woman behind the deask, not wearing a mask.
Clerk ” You need the appropriate €4 of official stamps first”
OK, where do I get them?
Clerk “from my colleague at the next desk”
OK, where is her window?
Clerk “ She doesn’t have one, you need to come inside to get them :doh

Got the stamps and stuck them on as per protocol (water from a bottle and not licked)
Back to window OK, here you go
Clerk “Picture ID”
OK, do you want masks off to see our faces?
Clerk “ No it’s against regulations”
She did sign it and stamp the stamps finally….Could get an EU Cyprus passport quicker and easier than exchanging our driving licenses

M.A.D. From when I got married here, we had to have documents apposled or swarn or what evered, it always seemed to involve sticking postage stamps on papers and rubber stamping them and charging you money, never involved anything to actually guantee the validity of the paperwork, came across to me as a childish farce.
