Paphos People

Brought to me by a policeman here in Paphos but based in Nicosia and applies Islandwide.

Members of 2 distinct populations are carrying out 2 similar scams, both as pairs or groups.

Firstly members of the Eastern Med region are working in pairs in and near car parks. One watches on as a witness and the other allows himself to be 'bumped' 'run over' etc sufficiently to request money, compensation of terrorise individual women drivers to leave the cars open (also scam the insurers).

The second is similar in style with cyclists from the subsaharan region allowing themselves to be knocked from their bicycles on roadsides, junctions etc and put on serious theatrics for the witness and the gathering group waiting the insurance company.

Apparently when a person has to have been treated in a hospital it can be a small but favourable help on an application to remain. He is waiting for children to be used as a foil/ruse in this which kind of ramps it up somewhat.

He has told me to be particularly aware when I see such people, to be aware of groups of people in places where I am vulnerable or could be accountable etc.
