Cyprus plans to reopen its airports to visitors from all countries on March 1, Deputy Tourism Minister Savvas Perdios told CyBC state television on Wednesday. “This means that passengers will be able to visit Cyprus without quarantine restrictions, unless they test positive for COVID-19 on arrival,” Perdios said. He said that the 56 countries with which Cyprus has an air connection will be designated colors according to their coronavirus pandemic situation.

Is he going to open the hotels, restaurants, bars, beach facilities and tourist attractions, too ? ... or are all passengers expected to try the new 'Glamping / stay-socially-distance / walk-in-the-wilderness' idea ?
Back to the drawing-board !!! :huff :crylaughin

Back to full lock down for summer

Shake my head in despair...the pandemic will not be under control in 5 - 6 weeks from now!

And the new variants ? What of them!

We have not got enough vaccines and the roll out is dreadful to say the least
We are still at age over 90 years old yet!

Have they not been watching what is happening in the uk?
Every age group seriously ill and dying...not just the elderly
Almost 100,000 people have now died in the uk alone!

arghhhhhhh
Why not hang on with opening up Cyprus until we have more vaccinated ...or open up more slowly and in a more controlled way of who is entering Cyprus? We all know the island has to open...we all know people and businesses are struggling ....and that we need to open ..but siga siga

Let us who live in Cyprus be able to spend our money safely in the shops, restaurants and bars!

May people return safely here for holidays

But let’s be honest ...they are opening Cyprus up for Easter! The biggest celebrations of the year!

Sadly more deaths and shut downs ahead!
May the young not be affected as they are in the uk in the next lockdown to come

:tickedoff :tickedoff :tickedoff

Migmogs you are so right. The situation here in the UK is dire and mainly because people are so stupid that they will not follow the rules. House parties and raves would you believe .Finally and not before time, fines for breaking the rules are getting harsher but I suspect some idiots will still risk it. People still going climbing in the Lake District and Snowdonia in the snow and having to get rescued!! I despair! Having said that we are doing well in the vaccine roll out and both my husband and myself in early 70's have had our first jabs

good morning Poppytim :morning
Following the news reports on the uk and listening to my family who are working frontline daily in the covid sections of the NHS...yes very grim in the uk and other parts of Europe and the world right now

The light at the end of the tunnel is of course the vaccines...the uk has seen the urgency in this ....wish that the EU would also......so pleased that you have had your first vaccine doses...well done!

May the vaccine doses being administered here in Cyprus become faster than they are at the moment.....they are now giving out second doses....so we are down to only giving out 1500 new vaccine doses last week! A drop in the ocean

Take care , stay warm, stay safe all

Yes we are built in tourism....this has been a horrible, devastating past year

We all need the vaccines to turn this around
And get back to normal ASAP

It is truly awful and sad watching the decimation of businesses and and people’s lives

We live in the North East. Our local GP surgery has just put on Facebook that they have done all local care home,97% of over 85,s,97,% of the housebound and hope to complete all 70+ by their next vaccination days which should be wc Feb1st - an excellent achievement aided by a small army of volunteers. I am sure you will be hearing about yours soon Bassman

Cyprus also needs to address local issues properly such as the many people visiting the Troodos area in recent weeks and particularly yesterday.

Also, I expected there to be checkpoints around Paphos to ensure people had permission to be out and about just as there were in the previous lockdown but haven't seen any and in general there is a great deal of flexibility with the current regulations - perhaps too much in some areas.

Just hope the small businesses, restaurants and coffee shops can soon open as most adhere to the rules and at least it will produce some income. However, it is up to the general public to comply.
