Now that you have received some of the Moderma vaccine in addition to Pfizer hope you get your vaccines soon. I have just had my apt in the UK and am in criteria 4( over 70 and/or clinically vulnerable) so we are doing so well here. My husband had his last week ( Pfizer) and I think mine will be the Oxford one. He has had no ill effects at all ,not even a sore arm.

Well done and stay safe
Parts of my family on the frontline have also had their vaccines with no ill effect

We in Cyprus have very few vaccines come through because of EU policy
But we are hopeful that soon more vaccines will be made available

We are looking at February for a roll out of the Astra Zeneca Vaccines
Which will quicken things up and hopefully bring the vaccines to drs surgeries

Stay safe all and stay home

That's good Bassman! Sure Val will not be far behind you. They are now doing over half a million a day - excellent! My advice to you is to swing your arm a lot before you have the jab - some say it helps!! I didn't and had a very sore arm for a few days and other side effects - my husband had none!

Oh heck!! Arguments ongoing with the EU and Astra Zeneca who say they can no longer supply the promised amount despite the EU providing millions of euros up front. The EU are now saying that the Pfizer plant in Belgium cannot ship out to countries outside the EU without their permission! I can see huge problems for all of us . The EU say Astra Zeneca have not provided good reasons for the delay( even though it is not yet approved in the EU!) I think they are miffed that our two production plants in the UK are apparently working normally!
The Germans are discrediting the stats and saying it is not effective in over 65's which Astra Zeneca are strongly disputing .
At the end of the day it appears that there will probably be a worldwide shortage of vaccine.

Oxford-AstraZeneca have manufacturing sites around the world including Belgium, India, Mexico, Canada, United States etc etc

It is also as you say Poppy Tim manufactured in the uk

For me the EU are again making this political over the Pfizer vaccine which is manufactured in Germany and Belgium and of course manufactured in the States. The EU have not yet approved the Oxford-AstraZeneca vaccine ...dragging their heels again and not looking to approve the Oxford-AstraZeneca vaccine for use ...until the end of January ...roll out mid February in the EU, why? The Oxford-AstraZeneca vaccine could have been out all over the EU weeks ago and it is the only vaccine that is not making any profits from the Vaccine...unlike Pfizer and Moderna who are making enormously huge profits.

Pfizer themselves have a problem right now...not able to keep up with demand and are upping their manufacturing sites to produce more vaccines quicker

Oxford-AstraZeneca manufacturing....also have a problem at the moment...they are waiting for 1 component of the vaccine from China! And there is a problem at the manufacturing site in Belgium

That is why their are hold ups

Uk are offering other countries their genome technology facilities for free ...to help them to know faster what variants are in their countries in order to be better prepared for what then happens...well done once again uk ...no profits in their Vaccine and and helping other countries to fight this pandemic with their genome technology .... proud to be British

:clap :clap :clap

May things come through soon
May the spin stop
And may this not all now turn political from the EU .....lives are at stake!

Yes fully agree with you Migmogs and I too am proud of what the UK has achieved with the vaccines and identification of different strains etc and the Vaccine Minister only said this morning it is in everybodys interest for all countries to get the vaccine worldwide and he would not get drawn into any petty wrangling with the EU although he did stress that he fully expects that we do receive our Pfizer order from Belgium without interference.

Bassman, I well remeber those days when i Joiuned up in1960. We all paraded at the Med Centre and got various types of jabs. Back to the spiders for a lie down.

You really could not make it up!! The argument between Astra Zeneca and the EU continues. The EU with the agreement of AZ published the heavily redacted Contract as they agreed with AZ in the contract that all commercially sensitive paras would be redacted but they cocked up big time as they left the bookmark on the document meaning that anyone could access the entire unredacted contract!! So I reckon any claim they may have against AZ has now been wiped out by this elementary mistake!
They are also trying to stop Pfizer vaccine from going to UK in an act of incredible spite
Shame on you EU!!

Let’s be honest here
The uk put together a top crack team to sort out and organize the uks needs for vaccines ASAP...as soon as they realized that we where dealing with a dreadful pandemic....they had that job in the bag by May, with 7 different vaccines bought into

The EU didn,t move as quickly and only sorted out their vaccine purchases by August

They where slow off the mark then

And they have been slow off the mark rolling out any vaccines to us all, waiting to roll out ceremoniously all 27 block countries together in a show of solidarity ....and not approving the Oxford-AstraZeneca vaccine until today

In fact talk over here in the papers these last few weeks ....Oxford-AstraZeneca was dropped from being talked about as government here only promoted and talked about Pfizer, Moderna and Johnson Johnson vaccines

The uk government are NOT Oxford-AstraZeneca....the uk government did a deal with Oxford-AstraZeneca back in May, 3 months before the EU came forwards and also did a deal with Oxford-AstraZeneca!

The EU have been very quiet about the fact that German Pfizer have also let the EU down with manufacturing! Wasn,t it only a week or so ago that Angela Markel was saying as how the EU had upped their purchase of Pfizer vaccine for us all in the EU? With not one word about using the Oxford-AstraZeneca vaccine and no rush on approving it!

And now they are doing all of this dreadful shouting to take the heat off themselves for mishandling both the purchasing and the roll out of the vaccines!

Maybe it,s me...but for me ....the EU have made the roll out of the vaccines and their own shortfalls in organizing the EU,s vaccines needs very Brexit political ...and it has back fired.

Sadly what really matters let’s all be honest
Is that they all need to just get on with sorting out the vaccines and getting them rolled out as soon as manufacturing is sorted out

A bit of a ramble post sorry .... will now get off my soap box.

Take care all and stay warm and stay safe

Oh heck the Cyprus Government are now saying that everyone will be informed which vaccine will be used on them . Now they have just had an order of Astra Zeneca delivered - mutterings are going on in Europe that some countries will not give the vaccine to the over 65's due to insufficient data so I can well imagine that Cyprus are going to have a problem if residents refuse the AZ vaccine as without it they will really struggle.
For what it is worth I am 71, have had the AZ vaccine( first jab) and am confident that I am protected albeit I am not stupid and continue to social distance and wear a mask just the same as my husband who had the Pfizer jab.
If it gets down to letting people choose which vaccine then the vaccine programme is lost in my opinion. As an aside Hospital admissions are reducing at a steady rate here in the UK and that surely must mean that the vaccine is working!

In January I reached a milestone now officially an OAP (66), yesterday I was contacted by my local GP who invited me for the Vaccine, they said we are ahead of the programme, because I now fall into the next group would I like it done, I said yes right away, so on Monday at 10.20 it is my turn, my second jab will be 12 weeks later.

Here in the UK we have vaccinated over 14 million which is a great achievement, we do not have a choice of which type and to be honest does it matter as long as it works, then I thought how many expats in Cyprus have been vaccinated, or is just the Cypriots.

Question - How many expats have been vaccinated, does anyone know how many Cypriots have been done.

They are doing the vaccinations here in age groups

We are now down to anyone over the age of 76 years old
And apparently a lot of people living here fit into this bracket
You have to go onto your GESY account or ring a number to get booked in
No letters or appointments are sent out to you
If you are younger in age ...then you cannot book in yet until they get down to your age group!

On Dr Molly,s list ...some wrote today in that age group of being offered vaccination appointments on and after the 22nd February...and not all where able yet to get appointments

So as you can see ...we are behind ...with a long way to go yet

It us a slow moving situation ....there does not appear to be any rush at all

Everyone appears to being treated equally

I need to have Oxford-AstraZeneca vaccine because of health issues
I am 67 years old....read today that like France and Germany ...Cyprus are now looking at only giving the Oxford-AstraZeneca vaccine to under 60,s....I hope not! As that would leave me for now ......with no vaccine to take! GP.s are not involved with the roll out ...only central health government.

Fingers crossed that politics will leave the EU to just get on and vaccinate us all ASAP

For vaccinations in Paphos ...we all have to go to Paphos General....for me ....a slow roll out is what is happening in truth

The uk have been amazing in their roll out of their vaccination program

Well just had my vaccine for Covid, :celeb2 I had the Astra Zenica one, I was also given my date for the next jab, I did not feel a thing and actually asked had she done it, absolutely no problems at all.

FACT CHECKED

I asked the nurse if there was a difference between the various vaccines - YES but only in the way it works, the base compounds are virtually the same, wont bore you with what she said, see link at the bottom.

Costs The Pfizer one costs £15 where as the Astra Zenica one costs £3

I have put a very good link to help explain in a couple minutes the basics of the vaccine.

My daughter works in a very busy vaccine Centre
And has now helped to give out thousands of vaccinations

Most of my many family and friends in the uk are now all vaccinated...no issues at all

1 had anaphylaxis and was treated in the vaccine Centre and at hospital hospital and was home that evening

No deaths at all!

Few minor issues...sore arm, temp etc like flu jab

All back to normal very quickly

Maybe talk to the nurses and drs on the front line as to what is happening

Never forget us all queuing up in school to have our BCG TB jabs ...which also saved many lives!

Can,t wait to have my vaccination. The sooner the better!

As I've been saying on here all along, I have no intention of taking an untested experimental mRNA never been used before injection where the actual human trials (which should NOT be carried out on the population but are) only started a couple of months ago and are due to last three years. People keep going on about sore arms etc. but the real long term severe damage won't be known for quite some time and by then it's too late. I'll rely instead on my healthy immune system together with my B & T cell immunity thank you.

Well, I received a call today on my UK Mobile, from my doctors in the UK - would I like a covid vaccine?

I would have love one, but unfortunately had to decline!

Wonder how long it will be until I get one here.

Do you live full time in Cyprus? is so how can you be registered with a UK doctor because all UK doctors now require you to have a permanent UK address or are you cheating the system.

I pay tax and NI in the UK, and SI and tax here.

I did tell my doctors years ago I live in Cyprus, but they seem to have kept me on their records.

Well OT, I have had my jab and my wife has hers next week, if you feel that there is a problem then do not have it and take a risk of catching it.

I bet that the 109 million people who have died would not agree with you, bet they would have taken the chance to have it.

I think each to their own

But for global stoppage of the virus and it,s continuing normal mutations that need to be stopped
The vast majority of us all need to be vaccinated

My arm is up as is my wonderful husbands to be front of the queue

But sadly here in Cyprus...might take some time yet!

Stay safe, warm and well everyone

The thing is that rightly or wrongly,if you do not have the vaccination then your life style could be severely restricted. Quantas are saying they require passengers to be vaccinated as are the Cruise ships, who knows who will follow? As someone said,if you want to go to Africa you need the yellow fever jab etc and no one makes a song and dance about that.
At the end of the day I don't think any Government is making the covid vaccine compulsory but if you don't take it then be prepared for possible changes in your life.

Reports that you won't see in MSM as they are being covered up. Also scroll down to the article about Greece, particularly about the possible prosecution.

To answer you old twister

This is a very sad story that has been twisted by conspiracy theorists yet again.

People do not catch covid from the vaccines

People are not protected from covid for at least the first 14 days and only get @ 60% cover from one dose 27 days later ...and then of course they also will need the further booster shot to be fully covered

12 staff at this old people’s home in Spain also became infected with the virus ....78 people became infected in total

So it looks sadly as if the virus was already in this nursing home when these elderly people where vaccinated and that protocols had not been followed ...eg mask wearing, washing of hands, distancing ...so sadly some of these elderly frail, sick people have died...an absolute tragedy

I know now of many many people who have had their vaccines....some in very poor health ...they have received both the Pfizer vaccine and the AZ vaccine ...and all have been great

My daughter has helped to vaccinate many thousands of elderly people ....not one death
My sister is CEO of 8 care homes in the uk...all vaccinated ...not one death

If some people sadly have died after having had any vaccine ...has it been because of underlying health issues or indeed having or catching the virus just after having had the vaccine...before the vaccine has had time to become effective?

This is scare mongering and not needed...drs and nurses do not set out to murder and kill the elderly and hide the causes...they are working flat out hard doing just the opposite !

You are quite at liberty to believe what you like and I can see how your opininion is based on MSM and a relatively tiny number of personally known expreiences but I am telling you that the truth is being hidden merely to encourage the maximum take-up of the so called 'vaccine'. Through research I have seen reports of literally thousands of very serious and death reports following vaccination, I saw a leaked official document from the US Vaers government reporting site which ran into many hundreds of pages, each individual case written up in detail by the reporting medical staff, many of whom had died of a stroke (not Covid) - needless to say the reports are no longer on line as the information has been taken down and now cannot be acquired publicly from Vaers. It was to be expected that all the sudden deaths following the jab would be put down to Covid, I don't think many people are surprised at that. I'm afraid to disappoint you but the conspiracy theorists these days are the people that blindly accept what they are being told by the Press and TV, all encouraged by the politicians (excess the few that are brave enough to speak out). Even more doctors, particularly in the US, are now speaking out, many of whom are losing their licences.

We are going to have to beg to differ

I shall continue to follow the overwhelming science that the vaccines are efficacious and that they are working, a brand new study has just been written on 500,000 people who have been vaccinated in Israel, a very large study. The outcomes are extremely good

All scientists are following what is happening globally in each country closely...in the uk we have a yellow book that is filled in with symptoms after a medicine / vaccine is given..even Aspirin and paracetamol have side effects and can kill you...all medicines contain lists of warnings, as all could potentially damage you...but you have to weigh up the pros and cons

And there are many pros for taking the vaccines that far outweigh the cons

I will also continue to talk to and listen to real drs and nurses on the front line
Who personally are overseeing and giving out thousands and thousands of vaccines daily
Who DO know what is happening and who themselves have been vaccinated!
I will also continue to talk to my very very many friends and family who have all had or are having their vaccines right now ...with few if any side effects!

I will not be listening to false news from global anti vaxxers at all

Stay safe all

I have has the Astra Zenica vaccine, my wife has just had the Pfizer both of us are good, just a little sore in the arm where the needle went into the muscle.

As I said in my other post, there are now 110 million dead world wide who would have loved to have the vaccine.

Question to Old Twister - If offered are you going to have the vaccine YES OR NO, we wait in anticipation for your response.

Dear oh dear, do you really expect me to blindly accept a so called fact checking exercise by DW, the German governments equivalent of the abhorrant BBC. Not something I would call reliable fact checking, just more push of governments political agenda worldwide.
The link below is probably something that you wouldn't want to watch as no doubt you will consider it as conspiracy theorists (albeit British ones) but the first 25 minutes of the video features alleged damage/deaths following the Covid19 'vaccine'. There really is so much reliable information out there if you care to investigate, I have seen personal statements from two well known general practice doctors in my previous home country of Ireland who have openly stated that they are refusing to give any of their patients the vaccine because they have serious doubts about it's safety whilst knowing they stand the chance of being struck off.

Bit of a ridiculous question given all my previous posts (even one where I said I most definately wouldn't have the vaccine).
My position on that has not changed, I've probably missed my age slot anyway, I don't keep up with that irrelevency!

The Sputnik Vaccine according to the Lancet and Peer review is supposed to be a very good and safe vaccine at over 90% efficacy

Hungary has successfully already gone down this route and ordered from Russia the Sputnik Vaccine without the EU

Russia Scientists have also joined forces with AZ to help to make further vaccines that will help to target any virus mutations

Other alternatives to protect against the spread of Covid-19 include green tea, dark chocolate and grapes to name a few.

Rather than just rely on a chemical solution (vaccination), best to get the body's immune system functioning properly in order to fend off disease.

That, and a good night's sleep.

Also taking Vitamin D3, Zink and Vitamin C have also been proven to help to keep your immune system at optimum health to help to fight the virus

I hadn,t heard about dark chocolate , green tea and grapes though

So will look into those as well

Well at least we agree on something. Vitamin D3 together with Vitamin K2 helps to prevent excess calcium in the blood by getting it where it should be, in the bones. Of real benefit to people tending to suffer from osteopenia or osteoporosis. Pre and pro biotics help too, regulating a healthy gut.

My husband and myself are taking as advised...vitamin D3 , Vit K2, slow release Vit C , Zink and an excellent probiotic ...because yes it is very important to have mine and my husbands immune systems in as good a shape as possible to help to fight this covid 19 virus cytokine storms should we get the virus and will help towards warding off any other viruses and illnesses

I too have studied lots!

We should all try to do whatever we can to boost our immune system as both myself and husband do however it is a known medical fact that your immune system does not work so well the older you get and even with all the vitamins etc your immune system is not as good as when you were younger. I for one believe in the vaccine and have had the vaccine to enable me and everyone else to try to get out of this dreadful non life that we have existed in for the last 12 months.

Absolutely right Poppytim

:goodpost

The more who have the vaccines the better .....as it will also stop the emergence of more and more covid 19 virus mutations

Looking forwards to living a full life once again!
Going out with our neighbours and friends who as a couple we isolated off from last March
But mostly being able to see and hug our children and grandchildren once again
Who we now haven,t seen since October 2019

Can,t wait to get vaccinated and eventually for the world to get back onto an even keel once more!
