For those that are interested:

Close to 17,000 vaccination slots will become available on Tuesday for people 71 and above across the Republic, the health ministry said.

People within the age group can set up an appointment starting at 9am on Tuesday. The ministry said 16,904 slots will be made available, as two large vaccination centres were also opening this week.

One is located at the old power company building in Paphos with seven crews, expected to open on Thursday; the other in Larnaca, at the Pasydy building, which will open on Friday and will also be staffed with seven crews.

Cyprus has made vaccinating its elderly population a priority and according to the European Centre of Disease Control it was in second place as regards the above 80 category.

According to health ministry figures, until last Saturday, 58,490 people have received at least one dose of a vaccine. Of those, 19,221 have received both doses.

The total includes frontline health professionals and some people with chronic illnesses.

I phoned 1474 again today for 74 year olds. Told very nicely,"no vaccine". Try again in a few days.

Alan - keep phoning as some people have rung later in the day and got an appointment.
Does your personal doctor offer to make an appointment for you? Some do. Perhaps worth checking.

Be on the ball at 9 am tomorrow and keep trying - once you get a reply, when asked press * for English. I think you then select 2 when prompted and then you are in a queue and told which number you are in line. You need your Name and ID number as written on MEU form + DOB. You will be given an appointment date and time over the phone. If you use your mobile phone later you will be sent a confirmation SMS in Greek. Good Luck!

Hi Alan

I hope that you are able to make your appointment as soon as soon as you can

Just to add to Alexis great sound advice

If you still cannot make your appointment
It might be worth contacting your drs surgery and asking them for their assistance
Explaining to them your difficulties

Stay safe , warm and well

And fingers crossed that you are able to get your vaccination appointment soon

After 2 and a half hours, my husband online and me on the phone, I eventually got the appointment for him for next week.
Please can anyone give directions to the old power company building where the vaccination is being administered.
BTW the confirmation text he received was in Greek and even Google translate couldn't translate it
Many thanks in advance

If my memory serves me right it is now the Polihoros Cultural Centre - Old Electricity Authority

Depending where you are coming from the best way is pass The Kings Mall on your left heading up to the old town, you will see Kennedy Square, there is the new parking area next to the new bus station (was being built when I left)

Park there cross the road and there is a street called VLADIMRROU IRAKLEOUS - walk down that street (there used to be a great coffee shop called second cup Paphos if it has not closed down)
Carry on past that and it is further up that street on your right.

There is a huge turbine on display in the square (was a couple of years ago) if you see that you are there.

Please note that it was 3 years ago since I was there, hope this helps.

Thank you for your help.
We had a drive around that area yesterday, unfortunately most of the roads are one-way and we ended up back on the main road.
We will try again.

When the page opens, click on directions.....choose Peyia as your starting point...when this opens you can zoom in for clearer details of the roads. It will also offer you a satellite image of the area

No. If you are coming down the Polis Road, past big Paps, then you get to the traffic lights by the main Bank of Cyprus and the EKO petrol station. Just past the petrol station is the entrance to the car park. The place you need is down a side road opposite that.

The important bit is the date and time which you can easily read. So long as you know where you are going, that is all you need.

Our friends went today
They said it was very well organized and very efficiently run
Very friendly
The vaccinations where quick and easy

They both had the Oxford-AstraZeneca vaccine

They both where asked to sit for 30 minutes after vaccination
And both will be going back for their second doses in 12 weeks time
The same as in the uk

Overall they where extremely impressed
