The health ministry on Monday issued new country guidelines for travel, moving some countries from orange to green and others from red to orange. The changes come into effect from Thursday.

The following countries have moved from orange to green:
Austria
Bulgaria
Czech republic
Hungary
Germany
Italy
Finland
Slovakia
Norway

The following countries have been moved from red to orange:
Belgium
Denmark
Estonia
France
Greece
Croatia
Latvia
Lithuania
Slovenia
Sweden

The classification for the countries of the European Union and the European Economic Area (Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway) including Switzerland are in the green, orange or red categories is based on that of the European Centre for Disease Prevention and Control (ECDC), the ministry said.

The categorisation of countries, based on epidemiological risk assessment, is fluid and can change at any time, it added.

More information is available at https://cyprusflightpass.gov.cy/en/vacc ... passengers .

All passengers, regardless of the category of countries , including those holding a valid vaccination certificate must submit an application to CyprusFlightPass within 48 hours before the departure of their flight.

In addition, for the purposes of ensuring public health and surveillance of the epidemiological picture, the ministry of health may carry out sampling laboratory molecular testing of Covid-19 on passengers including persons holding a vaccination certificate.

Frightening ...not testing vaccinated people on arrival
As a few could be carrying the virus into Cyprus!
And as we all now know ...it only takes a few to cause big issues!

Another 11 passengers again today found positive carriers of covid!

Asking for a PCR test from everyone entering Cyprus is the only way forwards!

But with this mindset above.....Let’s just invite into Cyprus all of the variants! Brilliant!

If you are a Cyprus citizen or permanent resident, you only need to be tested on arrival at the airport in Cyprus.

My son recently travelled back from the UK and needed no testing at all before he got here. That means that people who, either knowingly or unknowingly, have the virus are free to sit on a plane in close proximity with hundreds of other people for up to five hours, merrily spreading it round the rest of the passengers and no one is any the wiser until testing is done here, by which time many infected people could have already left the airport.

Combine this with the fact that I drove right through Paphos seafront the other day, up to the mall and along Tombs of The Kings and passed many, many people, mostly tourists by the look of them, and not a single one was wearing a mask!

It's amazing that our numbers aren't rocketing up again. Thank heavens for the vaccination programme.

You are right Effsie ...I agree completely PCR testing should be done before people get onto planes

Although numbers are much lower for double vaccinated people to be carrying the virus at all ....the very small minority can still be carriers

It has been proven mind that the virus dissipates outdoors and gets blown away ..so I am not too concerned about outside non mask wearing..... .for me the non mask wearing is an issue indoors in shops , supermarkets and in restaurants when people visit the toilets ...which is the most unventilated place ever!

I hope that figures in hospitals and the very sick intubated and any more deaths ...remain low

And that the economy starts to pick up... businesses can now start to make some much needed money and workers stay in work now able to clothe and feed themselves and their families
