As you know I have a friend called Paul who lives in upper Peyia, he has had lots of problems with blood clots on his lungs, his dog Jake running away and a lot of you have helped to sort him out, now he has had a massive set back.

About 10 days ago he felt ill at home, he was rushed into hospital (General), he has had a stroke which has caused paralysis in his right arm and leg, I have managed to speak to him but his speach is slightly slurred and too be honest he is in a bad way.

Mandy who looks after his villa spoke to me the other day and she had been to see him and he looked ghastly, and looking at him he will be in hospital for a while.

From what I hear the General is not a nice place to be, there is no stroke support, he is on a general ward with people who do not speak english also the nurses do not engage with him, he his poorly loney old man.

Just thought I would let you all know.

I am sorry to hear about your friend, but I just want to say that I have spent some time in the general hospital on several different wards, of course you will be outnumbered by Cypriot patients but all the nurses speak English, they are always busy and it wasn't as bad as some people like to make it out to be.

I am so sorry to hear this ...truly sad

Can his Dr not arrange for a physio to go into the hospital to help him with physio excercises?
To help recuperate from his stroke ? She has one as part of her practice? And he is part of GESY?

Also can a caring, nursing company here ...who are normally used in your home ...can they go into the hospital maybe to help with his care needs?

Is anyone helping to feed him and wash him etc etc?

I hope that his needs can be covered soon
