Contracts signed for the management of two beaches in Kissonerga, Paphos will generate an income exceeding €190,000 this year, leader of the Community Council George Stylianou said on Tuesday.

Work has been carried out to shape and improve the Potima and Pente-Litharka beaches, as well as improving facilities for bathers.

The two beaches will also be manned by lifeguards to ensure the safety of bathers.

The revenues from the two beaches are an important source of income and will contribute to the implementation of a programme of developments in Kissonerga, Stylianou said.

I take it that we are all supposed to forget the number of drownings along this dangerous stretch of coastline? This area should never have been developed on the grounds of safety.

What a ray of sunshine you are Effsie! There are lifeguards employed now thankfully so no fatalities recently.

However there's no cure for stupidity, so you can't help those who think they're immortal and choose to ignore red flags and go in to the sea regardless meaning the lifeguards risk THEIR lives!

Back to rudeness again I see. Originally there were plans and a lot of demand for swimming to be completely banned along that whole section due to the danger and then, all of a sudden, a bar gets built and the plan to ban swimming seems to have disappeared. My concern is for the lives of the tourists and other swimmers. Maybe I am the only one who cares, but if I am just going to get replies like yours, perhaps I just won't bother in the future.

Please don't confuse straight talking for rudeness! I was never a fan of the development myself and rarely go to Sea You Bar BUT no one was ever going to prevent it being built!
In view of that I think they've done as much as they can be expected to do regarding safety measures, as I said there's no cure for stupid and those who ignore all the warnings and think they're invincible do so at their own risk and have to face the consequences!

Off the top of my head I can't think of any swimming fatalities on the coast there since the bar opened can you? The life guards do an amazing (underpaid) job!
