The Cyprus Post have recently announced that as of 2 January 2023, the receipt of postal items from countries that are not member states of the European Union (including the United Kingdom) that contain medicinal products will not be allowed and consequently, will not be released to their recipients.

This includes postal items delivered at the Postal Services as well as private couriers.

In addition, that as of the aforementioned date, the Pharmaceutical Services will terminate the inspection of postal items from countries that are not member states of the European Union (including the United Kingdom).

Affected citizens are urged to notify their physicians in order to arrange for the provision of the required medicinal therapy.

For more information you may contact the Pharmaceutical Services at the number 22608696 or at the email phscentral@phs.moh.gov.cy.

For me this is bad news

As the only treatment available for a serious condition that I have ..which used to be available here .....is not now available here in Cyprus ...but I can get it in the uk

and so I buy in the uk to be sure of safety of product

Will this announcement also stop people bringing in this medication in their luggage?

And will this also affect supplements ?

I suspect that if you bring stuff in discretely in your luggage you will get away with it.

As the UK chose not to continue with the EU's freedom of movement of goods and people (by virtue of Brexit), this is one of its unintended consequences.

Not protectionist bollox at all. Had Brexit not been voted for, you would still be able to import medications and supplements like before. Lots of our freedoms and former benefits have been taken away from us.

As to people going "back to nature and not pharma" I believe there is a place in this world for both. Live and eat as healthily as you can, but when medications are called for, use them. They can be, and are, lifesavers.

Still too many people treating the symptoms and not the cause of many common medical problems.

A look at the current lifestyle and making a few tweaks works wonders, especially the type of fuel people put into their bodies and exercise doesn't have to mean going to the gym!

Not saying to avoid medications as quite often taking them and making lifestyle changes produce the best outcome and in certain situations they are life saving.

My wife’s medication is made by a Cypriot company (Remedica) in Limassol.
She requires to take 1.5mg per night (€7 for pack of 30)
They haven’t stocked 1.5 for nearly 4 years but do stock and sell 0.5mg (€7.50 for pack of 30) meaning 3 pills instead of 1 and a total of €22.50 for a month’s supply………...€135 (£117.39) for 6 months.

I can get the 1.5mg, made by the same Cypriot company from a UK on-line pharmacy for £6.00 per packet for a month’s supply………..6 months’ supply £36.00 (€41.00) :doh

All crazy MAD

My medicine is no longer sold in Cyprus MAD and I have been told it will never be stocked again
I have looked all over the EU pharmacies with no joy barring in Germany

If I could get it here on GESY it was €1
I can buy in Germany but they want €100 for 1 months supply
In the uk it costs me £35
Plus postage if no one can bring over for me for one months supply
I don’t mind the uk cost as I could be seriously ill without it
