probably not, but he does think the land is worth more than it is in liverpool

Didn't Hicks and Gillett pay £250m each for Liverpool? Which by my reckoning makes them worth £500m, then add on the land in London, the state of the art training facilities and the excellent squad and it seems very reasonable to me.

To be honest when you talk money in those figures it all unreal anyway. Bring back Alan Sugar and El Tel.

No, they paid £350m for Liverpool total, including the players & ground, so no way is the Spurts worth £400m, even with the land & players, that's why the guy was only willing to pay £250m as valued

Surely not worth £400m eh Pete. Cos we all know Newcastle are the bigger club.

Well the TOON was only valued at £133m but that was due to FFS & SJH running it into the ground for their own gain

As for them being a bigger team, that's what the people in the know say point is, you still can't beat us with you're fantastic squad of players

that was why they kept on sacking there manager and spending vast sums on severance deals not to mention spending 15m on michael owen, not to mention kluivert, martins, woodgate, bowyer, luque, bramble etc

surely if they were running the club into the ground for their own gain, they would have sold all your top players (not many i know ) and not spent anything, one thing you can not hold against fat fred and sjh is that they spent money on players and backed there managers with money (it was the managers fault the players signed were pants)

The reason we were in so much debt when Ashley took over was because FFS spent money he didn't have on players, due to him & SJH taking millions out of the club all the time

It didn't help that managers like Souness got to spend £50m the club didn't have on crap player like Boumsong etc & FFS walked away with £35m for his stake in the club, he should have been made to pay it back to the club for leaving it in so much debt

Well that's all behind us now & we now have an owner who is willing to bank roll the club without having to borrow money to finance it which is something some of the clubs in the Premiership have to do, including 3 of the so called Top 4 teams, seeing as Man Usa are £700m in debt due to the Glazers, Chelski are £500m in debt(even if it is to Abramovich) & Pool are £350m in debt due to Hicks & Gillet refinancing the clubs assets to build their new stadium

Well all I can say is, roll on the summer & lets see if Mike Ashley gives KK the funds required to make a challenge for a European place next season

there is no way he will give you 300m to spend

A third of that would be good to start the process believe me

I'm not saying we'll be in Europe next season but the season after that I'd hope we were one way or another

I was going to try and reply to this thread, but there was so much nonsense I didn't know where to start!

Because he's bankrolled them to that sum since he brought the club instead of using his own money

So are you saying that if he leaves Chelsea they will have to pay him that money ?

Either that or he'll pay it back out of his own packet but the chances of him leaving Chelski is very slim considering he's apparently building a £150m palace in Chelsea

I have to say I am a tad confused now.

Mr Abramovich owns Chelsea and spends £500 million on players which is a bad thing according to you as the club now owes £500 million.

Mr Ashley owns Newcastle and you want him to spend up to £100 million this season to buy you success and that is a good thing.

What's the difference?

The difference is, Abramovich isn't using his own money to finance Chelski while Mike Ashley is you see, so we're not going to be in debt & Chelski are to the tune of £500m so far

Something to do with how the club is set up, they buy players from money loaned to them & not out of Abramovich pocket you see, I don't know the ins & outs but its, maybe its some sort of tax dodge

Are you saying because he is paying he will own the players and not the club, I don't think so.

Bottom line is, he owns the club, whether the money comes from his pocket or the clubs finacnces he pays in the end.

Don't get me wrong, I am not being critical of Newcastle (for once), I just cannot see how their circumstances are any different to that of Chelsea, Man Utd, Liverpool or Man City.

No, if he dropped dead, then Chelski would be in deep do-do mate, if he decied to sell the club, it would have debts of £500m, there is a big difference, its like Man Usa who are £700m in debt because the Glazers didn't have that money to buy out right, they financed it Same as the POOL, Gillet & Hicks have put them in debt to the tune of £350m to buy the club & build there New Stadium

Mike Ashley brought the TOON, lock, stock & barrel, has now paid off all their debt & is willing to fund them out of his own pocket, so even if KK spend £50m this summer, we will still be debt FREE

Anyway, this topic was about Levy saying the Spurt are worth £400m what does Joe Lewis have to say about that, I thought he was the money man behind the Spurts

Interesting that after the match tonight between Chelski and LPool, Glen Hoddle, an ex Chelsea man said he feared for the club if Abramovich leaves and he said that since the League Cup Final defeat to Spurs, Abramovich has not attended a Chelsea game including the game last week against Man Utd.
He said Abramovich is not happy at all and is not getting what he wants in return for his money ie attractive football.

Its been on Sky News this morning that Abramovich isn't happy & hasn't been to a match, not even last nights Apparently he's bored with his £500m play toy & sources say he may be looking to get rid but who's going to want to pay off that much debt off as well as buying the club

So how much do you think he'll get back if he does decide to sell or will he just write it off
