Just for reference:

If you want to send somebody a link to a particular posting on this forum, it can be a little tricky to do it efficiently (ie. without the recipient having to scroll to a post based on date/time. eg.).

Here's a way to guide them straight to a particular posting, FYI.

1. Go to the posting

2. Hover your mouse over its 'Quote' botton

3. Note the number displayed at the end of the address shown in your browser's status bar
(if the status bar is not visible, View --> Status Bar)

4. Add that number to the end of
http://paphospeople.com/paphospeopleforum/viewtopic.php?p=
(most of that might already be in your browser's address bar)


eg. if the status bar shows
http://paphospeople.com/paphospeopleforum/posting.php?mode=quote&p=2481

adding 2481 gives you
http://paphospeople.com/paphospeopleforum/viewtopic.php?p=2481

...which you can copy and paste into an email, for instance.


OK - This is where somebody tells me there's a much easier way to do it!

To be honest, though, I can't help feeling it would be found more easily if it was in the FAQ section
...along with the 'Picture Uploading Guide' thread

But that sort of forum-usage info would get lost in the general FAQ stuff there - so that's not a good idea.

Is there a case for putting this sort of info in the Forum Rules section ?
...and perhaps changing its title to 'Forum Rules and Guidance' ?


Might I also suggest that you have a look at the forum software config.
In other instances of this forum software, I see 'Post #' at the right hand end of each posting's title bar. Copying that link achieves the same result as I have described here, only in one step (right-click, copy shortcut).
