PostPosted: Tue Jan 22, 2008 11:57 pm
Was just wondering what everyone's favourite quote is, as we have them under our signature's, doesn't mean its your favourite:

I like this one: Life is too short to spend it with people you don't like.

I like to try and remember this when I don't understand something, which happens quite a lot as I get older

He who asks a question may be a fool for five minutes, but he who never asks a question remains a fool forever.

When you're chewing on life's gristle
Don't grumble, give a whistle
And this'll help things turn out for the best...
And...always look on the bright side of life...
Always look on the light side of life.

One my hubby uses, and I often think about when people are constantly talking about how good they are at something.

'Those who know, don't show'

Which I guess means, if you know you are good at something and confident about it and if you believe in yourself, you don't need to convince others.

When I was 14 I had Death is not a curse but a blessing unto me emblazoned all over my school books and my satchel.

That was when I thought I was immortal. My God, I somehow have lost that immortal feeling along the way. Anyone remember what that felt like?

I suppose you do know there is such a word as sesquipedalianism.
It always helps when being longwinded.

That's not supposed to be a quote, BTW.

But these (if I may quote two) are quotes:

"Whatever you can do, or dream you can, begin it. Boldness has genius, power and magic in it."
That was supposedly by Goethe, but current thinking somewhat weakens the association.

"Nullius in Verba"
The motto of the Royal Society, meaning "Take nobody's word for it", imploring you, as a scientist, to check everything supposedly a fact and research everything else.
