I've just watched North East Soccer night. They covered the cancer charity do held at Sid James Park last Friday night. The do was organised if you like, by Sir Bobby Robson who is raising funds for The Freeman Hospital in Newcastle. The football personalities present was very impressive and just shows what respect Bobby has in the game.
Anyway, the point I want to highlight is this. The TV crew interviewed Steve Gibson and asked about Boro's season. He sang Gareth Southgate's praises saying that he believes Southgate will become a great manager.
They then interviewed Saint Niall Quinn who stated that Roy Keane was the right man to manage Sunderland.
Although Mike Ashley and Mort were present, they did not give an interview. Is that significant I wonder ?
Given that earlier in the day KK had been summonsed to that meeting in London is it significant that although Ashley and Mort knew they would be on Tyneside that night they still dragged KK down to London ?
KK arrived at the do late, as he drove back to Tyneside. Why didn't he come back with his chairman and the owner ?
When KK did arrive he sat next to Steve Gibson. His chairman and owner were at the same table but as far away from him as they could be and when he did arrive he was widely applauded, but not by Ashley or Mort.
Thought some on here would want to know.

Anyway, saw Keane talking the other day about how he wants to manage in the Champion's League - now he's not going ot be doing that with your lot any time soon, so that must mean he's leaving surely???

Well he might very well leave as he is unpredictable but I won't lose any sleep if he does. It might affect the Irish board but who knows ? Roy Keane is not the be all and end all.
Mind, having said that, there's more chance KK leaving your lot.

According to Zogs in the craploids, there was no confrontation with him & Faye, so its just craploid gossip to get fans up in arms again but it never happened apparently he said 'why would I start a fight with Faye, he's a friend & much bigger then me'

Yes the TOON under FFS use to pay way, way too much wages for average players &it was between 70-80% of there income, that's why we were so much in debt under SJH & FFS but now MA & CM are in charge, things will change, we'll get rid of players like Smith (60k), Duff (60k) to bring the wage structure back into some realistic & hopefully no one will earn more that 80k a week, including Owen if he stays

From what I've read in the crap-loids, it seem sthe guy who was deputy is taking over

Well it seems no matter who is running the show at SJP, nothing changes

KK is on holiday until next week & in the mean time loads of players are being linked to us but as usual, no one is coming in but according to the crap-loids this morning, Pool, Villa, Smoggies & Toffees are looking at Milner, we have Arseneal looking at Obi & apparently 3 different striking options we've been looking at lately have decided to stay with their current clubs, Ashton, Gomis & Madine

I thought when we had a new Board & Manager that we'd stop the last minute panic buys but with only 4 weeks left until pre-season, when are we actually going to actually start buying anyone

Gudjohnson is up for sale at 4mil but it looks like Spams are favorite & will get in there first, so another striking option gone, as I said, nothing changes at SJP

Surely Pete, the WISE man will be sorting out all your transfer targets won't he ?

I just find that with all these crap-loid links, you'd think that the managers would take their hols after sorting out which players they want, not at the beginning of the transfer window I mean, look at Pool, they & the Spurts have already signed around 80 millions worth of players

I just hope that when KK gets back, he starts chatting to these players & gets some signatures or we're going to be royally screwed come pre-season

I have been told that things are not good at the mo at Sid James'.
Keegan will be sacked as he does not want to walk again.
Dennis Wise is doing all the transfer work and Cashley wants him to be manager, he doesn't get on with Keegan and Keegan and Wise don't speak.
This has come from a shareholder who has been accurate in the past.

So you've been speaking to Mike Ashley himself then, as there aren't any shareholder anymore apart from him that I know of, I use to be a share holder myself before Ashley came along

The club is the best run it has been for a very long time - top manager, improving youth structure, sensible wages, not splashing out stupid fees on over the hill players looking for a last pay day - long may it continue!

With Keegan's ability to get the best out of players (witness Duff's rejuvenation) this promises to be our best season since Sir Bobby left.

I can't believe you are happy with the set up at Sid James. It just goes to show what a shambles it has been lately if you think this set up is good.
You cannot be confident that Ashley is not looking to sell. There is that doubt there surely.
Keegan does not seem to have a good relationship with Ashley, nor does he appear to have a good relationship with Wise.
He is like a child with a begging bowl, asking for more food.....please.

As for the setup, I don't really care what the politics are in the boardroom, as it's not something I can control, if the owner wants to sell, he'll sell & it may well be to someone with more money than he has & is willing to plow it into the team, who know's

Anyhow, shouldn't you be more worried about your chief investor pulling out than what is happening at the TOON

We've got offers in for Stephen Hunt, Andrew Johnson and Darren Bent as well as Mc Geady and that Taiwo from Marseilles.
If we get them and three from Spurs that'll be £50m. That's the figure the club were comfortable about releasing to the press. We'll get a bit back from Fulop,Etuhu and a few others. We are not going to be in financial trouble from spending this amount.

We're acting sensibly in the market for the first time in ages and it makes a nice refreshing change. The first we heard about the Spiderman and Guthrie deals was when they were in the bag - it's the best way to do business.

Bringing in older players on inflated fees and stupid wages is something we've tried in the past and it's failed spectacularly, which is what makes it all the more surprising that this is the route our mackem chums now seem to be taking.....even the smogs have now realised that building gradually with sensibly priced, younger players is the way forward.

Our current squad is a lot better than many give it credit for too, especially once it's been sprinkled with a little KK magic - look what he's done for the Duff man already!!

CF See my amended previous post. As for the Duffer man, he's found his true standard. He should be playing at Hartlepool every week !

CF mate, I'm not flapping, I said a was depressed at the way we're doing things, its the same as it's always been, if you look back, this is how FFS use to do things in the transfer market, buy 1 or 2 midway & then panic buy in the dying weeks, that's what makes me depressed, I did think Ashley would be different & buy decent players over the period of the transfer window, not in a mad rush at the end, well its either that or we're not buying anyone

Gary maye, I'd rather support Stoke than change to supporting your lot, at least they've got a chance of staying up this season

I think with all these ex-Spurts player Keano is buying, I think we're going to have to call you 'The Spurts2' from now on, not sure what he's thinking but he can't seriously think if they sign ex-Spurts player that you might actually win something or even stay up do you I guarantee that every player that joins has a clause in their contract allowing them to leave for free if/when you're relegated this season

I agree with you about buying the 4 Spurs players, assuming they all sign. I mean when did they ever play in a team that won anything, apart from last season's Carling Cup. Also when did they play in a team that last qualified for Europe, apart from next season and the previous two season when Spurs finished 5th.

Keano is buying seasoned, experienced players who can still do a job in the Premiership. I accept he may be paying over the odds for them and he may be paying them too much in wages but they will do a job for him.

Can you say the same about Guthrie, untested in any senior team and the Spiderman who still cannot sort out his release from Mallorca.

I am sure The Cartoon will sign 3 or 4 players before the season starts, however KKK may not have many matches to bed them in before you get stuffed at Old Trafford.

Incidentally, local papers yesterday were saying you lot were getting ready to pay £7m for Batista, the big guy who was on loan at Aresenal a few seasons ago. He was rubbish then and will be rubbish now.

It does however seem as though the message is finally getting through to the fans at long last. Newcastle season ticket sales are so bad the club is ringing up fans who missed the application deadline to ask what is wrong. Most are saying they are sick and tired of watching overpaid medeocre players and having to pay an arm and a legs to do so. I gather season ticket prices increased by 10% for next season. Two or three seasons ago Newcastle had a waiting list for season tickets of about 20,000, now many matches are played with empty seats in the stands.

Could it be you lot are about to implode again???

Take a check on reality mate, you guys finished 11th last season with those guys & that's with Keane & Berb you only got into Europe because Chelski were too busy getting ready for their CL games otherwise you'd be in the same position as we are, not in Europe

So climb down off the moral chair & realise you're only selling them to the Makems because they're stupid enough to pay enough money so you can buy class players like Modric & Di Santos, oh yeah, they're EPL tested also... NOT

I don't think I said they would help Sunderland win anything, I said he was buying seasoned Premiership footballers who would do a job for him.

As for getting off the morale high chair, I don't think anyone connected with Newcastle, either as an employee or a supporter can use that phase when you consider how the Toon are welcoming back a convicted thug. Not only has he beat up members of the public he has beat up his own team mates, think yourselves lucky Dyer and Bowyer have left the club, you could have set up your own little Mafia group with those three. Talk about having pride in a club!!!!!

I suppose however as you say there is always a price on doing the right thing. If Newcastle were to take a stand and sack him, like a lot of folk connected with football and Newcastle, have said they should they would have to right off the money they paid for him, so the morale position does have a price I take it.

Bottom line is on this Pete, Newcastle are probably close to singing a few players we know nowt about who may well turn out to be surprises to everyone. Spurs are selling all their best players and don't seem to have players of the same quality lined up to replace them, so I have to believe Ramos has a plan that I am not party to and everything will come good in the end, and Sunderland are starting to do a bit of a Bolton by buying players who will do a job for them, may not win any trophys for them but should help them stay up and I bet if you ask any Sunderland fan what they would prefer, to win the FA Cup and be relegated or to stay up, they would all say staying up is more important at the moment.

Of the 3 clubs Sunderland seem to have a plan that is working, our two teams seem to be wandering around like headless chickens. I still think we will finish higher than both Sunderland and Newcastle, but then again I would. Can't see us being up there challenging the top 4 so we have to take this as a consolidation season and try to concentrate on the Cups.

I don't like Diouff at all. I#'m amazed Keane has signed him and there could be fireworks there. Cantona could argue he was provoked.
Barton can not make that claim and has done this at least three times.
KK has got Fat Sam to thank for this one. Is it right that Barton refused a request from Newcastle ,while he was in prison, to take a pay cut ? No wonder your fans are up in arms.
