Mackem head the queue for experienced defender  http://www.newspostleader.co.uk/sunderlandafc/Sunderland-39head-queue39-for-experienced.4349977.jp

Apparently, 3 Championship sides are also after him but only the Mackems will be able to afford his £28k a week wages

It's very interesting to go back to the start and see which ones have come off.
I'll add another, cos they are only rumours after all Sunderland are after a forward who is Brazilian and plays in the French League.( I know his name but will keep it to myself)
Some say we will pay £9m for him others say we will have to pay more. He wants to come !
Read it and weep my Magpie friends.

Correct Smurf. The big rumour today is that an Indian magnate with twice as much money as Abramovich is goona buy the Toon for £260 m.
He is said to be making £100m available for players and this explains why Ashley hasn't been flinging the money about !

Gary mate,

I think its more than a rumour about 'Anil Ambani''(6th richest man in the world) is looking to buy the TOON from Ashley, after all, this is written on his wikipedia: 'On August 3rd 2008, it had emerged Ambani has become a leading conteneder to take over English Premier League team, Newcastle United in a £230m deal'

Don't believe me, check it out guys: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Anil_Ambani

Now I know it was first reported by the NOTW so not sure how accurate it is but if Wikipedia have it on there screen, then there must be some serious truth to it

Now I read somewhere that he buys the TOON, he will be the richest man in football, which isn't actually true, as the the 4th richest man in the world owns shares of QPR but according to his wikipedia, he only brought shares so his son-inlaw who's also a multi-millionaire has a playtoy, he doesn't actually want to be mentioned on the board :o

Now if Anil Ambani buys the TOON & does what they say he's going to do, then Abramovich will have some serious competition, as this guy has a personal fortune of £21billion & his company RCOM are valued at £25.5billion

The down side is, if Mike Ashley doesn't give an answer in 7 days, they will go to either Sheffield Wed or Leeds, as they're looking for a club with a massive fan base apparently

Latest takover rumours have already been denied - Ashley has stated already he's looking for investors, not to be bought out. It's likely he's approached these Indian guys with a view to putting some money in, and the papers have run away with themselves yet again....

Generally speaking, the thought of a multi-billionaire pumping in loads of cash does have some appeal, but overall I'm not a fan of the "sell your soul to the devil" approach pioneered by Chelsea - give me sensible growth and realistic aspirations any day - success may take longer to achieve, but will be a heck of a lot more rewarding in the long term....

I've just read that 'Reliance' have denied any aproach by the company to buy the TOON but it's not the company that's looking to buy the TOON, it's Anil himself & he's worth £21billion, it's written in his Wikipedia

Personally, I'd love for Ashley to sell to Anil & him pump in £100million straight away but I don't see it happening, as I think Ashley wants more than £260mil for the club, so he won't sell entirely, so some club like Everton, Leeds or Shef Wed will beinifit & we'll be back to square one, having a billionaire in charge who doesn't want to spend any of his own money on transfers, just what the club can make

Hasn't done us any good this pre-season has it  :(

Seems Ambani isn't interested in the TOON according to the crap-loids, some are saying he is but most are saying he isn't

What gets me is, when this story first broke, there were 2 consortiums, Ambani's RCOM & a Singapore consortium with Steve Mchanon as a director, now we've heard loads of denials from RCOM but not once have I heard anyone say the Singapore condortium isn't interested, so maybe the RCOM is a rues to cover the other :o :o

Yes Pete, Kaboul did reject us cos he wants to play at Portsmouth. That's understandable given the players they've got and the fact that they are on the sunny South coast nearish to London and he already knows slobbery chops Harry !
I realise that no one ever rejects Newcastle, cos Newcastle step aside don't they ?
Anyway back to the thread, I've read that Blackburn players are none too happy with Mr Ince's first few weeks at the club. The ego has landed springs to mind. Bentley told the press that Ince had him do 20 pressups cos he had his arms folded in training and reckons alot of the players don't like him.
Wonder if this means they'll want away ?
Might lead to them having a bad season.( with a bit of luck)
Gary

big rumour on teesside is that aston villa have put in a bid of 4m for luke young :( (we signed him for 2.5m last season), dont think we would accept less than 6m for him and even then i would hate to see him leave as he was one of our better performers last season.

if we accept i wouldn't blame him for joining them after all they are a top 6 squad and in europe as well as being closer to london and his family

I've read that Villa offered £3m. It'll be a gauge of Boro's debt to see if they accept.
Saha prefers West Ham to Sunderland (phew) and is available for only £3m
Chopra to have talks with Hull City
Alan Smith to go to Everton ?????

debt what debt? people keep bringing up the debt issue (companies house has it listed at about 70m altough last official accounts showed assets of 70m and debt of 110m, net debt 40m, however 70m of the 110m is owed to gibson o'neill) which is steve gibsons company, we do not need to sell to clear debt, we need to sell if we wish to buy (not that that stopped us breaking our transfer record on alves)

Gary,

Why do you need to turn everything said against the Mackems into an attack on the TOON

The above quote was off a website, it wasn't something I made up, so don't take everything so personal, jeez

No Pete we haven't and neither have you lot  well not since the war !
No I tell you what amuses me Pete, when you have a pop at my club it's banter.
When I have a pop at yours it's a personal attack. Mmmmm.
Funny that.

As for banter & having a pop, the difference is, the comment above was from a independant website which I copied & pasted along with several others but you turn that into a pop at the TOON :!:

Now yes I do banter about the Mackems, it's hard not too but if you look back at all the 'Transfer Rumours' you've put up about the TOON, have I had a pop back in relatiation at the Mackems, no, no I haven't, thats the difference because I could have but as it's banter & something someone who neither of us has written, I don't bother about it unlike someone else  :o

As for winning something since the war, we won the 'Fairs Cup' in 69 mate, did you forget that

alledgedly the bid we have accepted is just over 6 million which is good business, just need to make sure we spend it properly

Villa have picked up 2 good full backs there and just for £10 m.
Liverpool are after James Milner for £8m.
Sunderland have offered £7m for Benni Mcarthy
Boro are after Arsenal full back Justin Hoyte.
And Sunderland made an offer 2 weeks ago for Cuellar of Rangers but he rejected us. Fill your boots Pete.
Keane has said we have made bids for the top 5 strikers on his wanted list, good offers, but nowt's happening. They either won't come or their clubs won't sell. Fill your panties Pete.

Unlike you Gary, I don't need to have a pop at all of your misfortunes

According to Sky Sports News this morning Luke Young was signed by Villa for £4m, didn't say how much Shorey cost but it seems they got a couple of good players there quite cheap & fast, pity our club can't do transfers that quickly

dont believe everything they say on sky pete, they tend to rush the story to get it out first, it will be for 5.5m

surprisingly enough boro have now been linked with volz(fulham), hoyte (arsenal) and clerc (france rb) from the noises going around in boro, it looks like we new young was unsettled all through the summer so have been lining up replacements for when we received an acceptable offer for him, expect more news by tuesday

to follow up on the last post, the deal agreed with villa is 5.5m up front 250k after 30 games and another 250k after 60 games, this is from mfc official website, so a good deal for boro if we sign a good replacement

Paul Ince has stated tha Benni Mcarthy is not for sale.
Roy Keane has admitted that the first 5 strikers on his wish list are not coming. This is he says because clubs are quoting ridiculous prices and he refuses to play their game.
Valencia have expressed an interest in Louis Saha (let's hope so)
Sunderland have made a £15m bid for Darren Bent. It's on the table and Spurs are yet to give an answer. Bent prefers to stay at Spurs but has been impressed by Sunderland's conduct and is willing to sign if Spurs sign other forwards. Keane will wait on this one.
Valencia's giant forward Ziigic is in talks with Stoke City !!

I'm hearing Benni Mccarthy is a possibility for your lot - apparently his form really slumped in the second half of last season and there's a concern that, at nearly 30, he's on the downward slope.

You might have had a chance at Bent a month ago, but no chance now - he's been on fire pre-season.

Martin, we had an offer in for Bent before we bid for the Tottenham 4.
He would not commit to comimg as he is waiting to see what developes at White Hart Lane.
You are right tho' he must have moved up the pecking order after the goals he is banging in.

Ha Ha Ha mmm Keane has been quoted in a paper that we made a substantial offer last week for a forward, much more than our transfer record but the club involved wouldn't do business.
Then this, Jonny Evans wants to leave Man Utd and join us.
We are gonna sign David Healey from Fulham for £2m
We are after Alan Smith from the mags
Keane is prepared to leave the £15m offer for Darren Bent on the table.
Danny Mills was commentating for Setanta yesterday and announced that Stephen Ireland is leaving Man City for Sunderland.( think we have enough midfielders)

It seems we've had an initial bid rejected, but are expected to go back and offer more.

Makes sense - we really need more cover at left back.

Some comedians are saying Amoeba is going to Sunlun for £3M.
A man who knows a man was talking to Quinny at a function and he said to ignore all the paper talk. Keane has 3 targets and they'll be in the club before the window closes.
Keane has said today at a charity do at S.O.L. that we bid £16.5m for a striker last week and it was turned down.

newcastle will never pay you 16.5m to take amoebi off them, 3m maybe but not 16.5m :smilielol :smilielol

Stephen Warnock has asked for a transfer from Blackburn. Now where could he be going ?

It seems we've had an initial bid rejected, but are expected to go back and offer more.

Makes sense - we really need more cover at left back.

I thought one of the 18 yrs old trialist we had this past week was a LB & the other a CM or did I read that wrong :? :? I thought the whole point of us getting these youngesters in was to back up the first team or are they just going into the reserves side
