Well summer has just about gone and the Xmas tree is on the roof of Orphan annies at the Mall plus a giant Santa. Marj

I've been to a local garden centre today and it's like Santa's grotto !

Well, besides the Christmas decorations (which are gorgeous, but not lead crystal), I have a wine stopper with a crystal top, and one of those square glass (or perspex) paper weights, which are engraved from the inside. I don't think either of them are lead crystal though, so should be OK. However, I did bring back a lead crystal basket that had been my mothers, which my brother agreed I could have, last time I came back, and it was in my hold luggage, not hand luggage (very well wrapped in bubble wrap), and there were no emergency calls for me!

mmmmmm...... christmas is well and truly in the shops in the uk, robbie keeps asking, is santa coming soon.... god i have weeks of this yet!!!!

little does he know the shopping is started, only cos there is a wii on his wish list and we got a good deal in woolies!!!!

i give it another 3-4 weeks and the christmas music will start too, just in time to get over halloween!!

mind you the sooner it comes the sooner i see my parents again, which will be great!xx

Jean, I may be a little thick at times, but why should you not bring lead crystal out in hold luggage? We have brought loads of stuff out, including lead crystal glasses still packed in their boxes, unopened and unused in 20 years of marriage (wedding presents) At Christmas we have even brought breadcrumbs, already prepared, from a stale loaf, packed in a plastic bag, which looked very suspiciously like another white powder.

Sorry about the confusion it is that lead crystal cannot be x-rayed.It is solid matter and good for hiding things in.Usually if you have it packed in either suitcase or hand luggage they should sk you to open or even ask what it is in suitcase.My original post referred to paphos airport trials.

One good thing about the lead up to Christmas is we always get away for a weekend with friends.
We do a bit of shopping and slurping and have a couple of nice meals then drive back Sunday.
We've been to York for the past couple of years but this year we are trying Skipton.
Should be good fun.
Now be honest, aren't some of you out there in Paphos wishing you could spend a weekend at Skipton ?

Skipton is lovely, there's a castle (if my memory serves me correctly), and a street market. I often used to go there on a Saturday.
