So the Wet Spams lost to Hull today, so maybe they'll crash & burn like we have with all the trouble thats going on with the Owner

Well that's what I was getting at, will they become a National Joke like Newcastle ?
I know they've got points on the board so they should be okay but if Stoke and Hull keep this up they won't be going down and two established teams will.

I know, that's why I agreed with you Gary

The Spurts are seriously in free fall & now it looks like, even with a young promising manager in Zola, The Wet Spams boardroom problems may well play a part in them dropping down the table as teams like Stoke & Newcastle climb

Theres a long way to go yet.

I've seen enough of the hammers to be sure we won't go down. Should've got something from the game yesterday.
What happnes with the owner remains to be seen. Too many rumours at the minute.

Noticed today Zola is favourite to be next manager sacked - thought the fans would give him a bit more time yet?

Seems like he's been told to sell the likes of Lucas Neil Bellamy and Parker and build a team round the young uns.
That could be dangerous.

The fans haven't been on Zola's back at all.
If we lose tonight at OT (not sure why I'm saying if) that'll be 4 losses on the trot. Boro after that and they are due a win against us, we normally beat them home and away every season, but with our current injury curse we remain pretty thin on the ground at present. So a poor run like that would put pressure on any boss of course. Whether he's up to it remains to be seen, but the fans have not been on his back.

Zola denies being made aware that he has to sell any of the top players in January. If that happens then we will definitely be in trouble, that would be a disaster getting rid of the likes of Parker, Bellamy, Green etc. The Icelandic owners have been hit hard, thats for sure with whats been going on - but they remain adamant that the club are on a solid footing. The papers are saying otherwise.

I'll be in Paphos with the the good lady on 15th November for a week, where is the best bar these days to catch some games - and will anybody be watching too ?

Well its looks like the Wet Spams have lost their court case against paying Sheff Utd compo for Tevez debacle :o :o

So as well as being £230m in debt, they're now going to have pay out another £30-£50m in compo  when it rains its pours

There is a long way to go with this yet. Nothing has been decided and if there is a payout it could well be much lower than these crazy amounts being stated.

Also the Hammers are not 200 million in debt.

As for the "good" comment. The only thing good is that after this season that complete clown of a manager Roy Keane and his band of overpaid and overrated rejects in a team that has never done anything - will be back where they belong - in the Championship.

Rubbish like that will be no loss to the Premiership.

   Laughing with you,Willis, not at you
Oh yes your rejects McArtney and Ferdinand, you know those two that Curbishley was so keen not to sell, are very happy where they are thank you. They are truly Happy Hammers, why aren't you ?

With respect, you can hardly compare Sunderland to the Hammers, come on get real.

Several FA Cups, European Cup, World Cup, footballing legends, tradition, a world famous academy.. shall I go on ?

The two players you mentioned were no loss, squad players at best (did you see Ferdinand's performace on Sunday..) I know he still loves the Hammers (saw his interview before the match), but to try and gift us goals..

We finished 10th last season, decimated by injuries, just like now, and that was a disappointment.

My thoughts exactly. Wist Am are a London based team and are therefore seen as a better attraction to some players than us, especially foreign players who aren't in the sights of Chelsea, Spurs, Arsenal and Leyton Orient
Both teams have an awful lot in common I would say. Solid fan base, never achieved anything recently, both been up and down the leagues to some extent, both currently have dodgy managers and both have a great tradition ( yes so do we matey)
You obviously see the hammers through claret and blue specs Willis cos let me tell you,up here they're nowt special, slightly better than Millwall, well maybe not, Brentford then.
They're about the 17 th best team in London ain't they ? ( Hope you didn't choke on your jellied eels !)

I don't want to get into the West Ham V Sheff Utd aspect in this thread but I would like to try and give my view on JB's comments on the exploits of West Ham.

I think what he meant was that West Ham did win one of the major European Cups and did provide all of the goal scorers in the Final of the World Cup in 66. They use this as a fond claim of theirs to say they won the World Cup, unlike any other club can claim.

As for the European Cup they won I believe it was the old Cup Winners Cup in the mid to late 60's.

Regards.

John

Boogaloo, you forgot the World Cup winning captain too, Mr Moore..

I think the attractions of playing for the Hammers rather than Sunderland are slightly more than the fact they are a London based team.. Who on earth would choose the latter ? Oh, apart from Diouf, Cisse, the Spurs subs and so on..they hardly had much of a choice did they..

Right, ways to improve on being the 17th best London team... mmm let me think..

Discopants, what an absolutely awful display from the overpaid and very overrated Sunderland team..

I cannot think of the last time a Prem team put on a display like that.. The Championship awaits..

Discopants, we did indeed play last night and a draw was a fair result in the end.

We could have nicked it, Bellamy, Cole, Boa Morte, having decent chances, but a points ok in the circumstances.

Third clean sheet in a row, Upson playing outstandingly well, Green by far the best keeper in the land (was it 9 million plus that your lot paid for your keeper ?).. and still a number of key players to return.

The Championship ? Youre having a laugh..

As for Sunderland being a bigger club, this gets more comical by the moment..

And when was the last time you actually won at Annfield................... 1963.....................and remember you think you are a big club.
Fact is we are playing doodoo. You are the worst team we've played at our place this season. Worse than the teams we took points off.
So don't be blowing that trumpet too quickly.
Gary

Yes the last time we won at Anfield was 1963, but we've beaten them many times at Upton Park - plus I've lost count of the times we've won recently at Old Trafford (with and without Tevez..), also at Arsenal (last league team to win at Highbury, first to win at the Emirates) and so on...
I don't know see how not winning at Anfield for so long makes us not a big team ?????

I see you've pulled Bolton in the FA CUP.. A chance to even the score perhaps ? :D

Mate, I'm not bothered about the FA Cup we've got other things to worry about. Thjere's a lot of money today gone on Keane to resign, wonder if someone knows something.
I've just got a gut feeling that if we end up in a relegation fight we'll sink. I haven't had this sort of feeling for a long time.
I'm sat here now wondering whether to buy a tkt for Old Trafford this satda. Son is going down and there's some tkts come up for sale at club.
Should I go or stay in my warm home and watch the slaughter on Setanta ?
Gary

I'd probably go along to Old Trafford if I were you. Always a big occasion, the old boy returning to his club, plus you might not be back there for a while..
I've been there for our past 7 or 8 games, always a good day out - and a real mixture of results over that period. Di Canio famously knocking them out of the FA Cup with Bartez all in a flap, a couple of 1-0 victories for us too, most recently thanks to Mr Tevez - plus we've had some real hammerings also..

Get yourself along.. :clapping

Hmmm don't think so. I've been a few times over the years and with my son twice. Hey Willis, we are not getting relegated anymore. We've parted ways with the plonker so we will now zoom up the table.

Thats sound very similar to the 7 parties interested in buying the TOON but never did

So looks like the Wet Spams could lose 9 points & face relegation which will make them even more less likely to get the £250m their owner needs :o

Well I know this is a Hammers thread but I am worried about my own club. Seems that since Keane left the Irish backers want out. The American is apparentley looking for backers to replace the Irish Consortium.
Quinn has gone very quiet and according to some folk who know him he is worried about the future of the club.
Don't get me wrong, I still think Keane leaving is a good, no,a great thing for the club.
We do not have the debts of some clubs and we are not in a pickle like say West Ham but for sure there are worrying times ahead.
I will be surprised if my club spends £5m this window.
We now have a manager who won't be able to attract players to the club. We seem to have been here before and the end result was relegation.
Gary :?

Worrying times for a lot of clubs Gary, but the Happy Hammers seem in deeper than most - the FA are now talking about re-opening the Tevez affair with the possibility of further fines or even the points deduction they should have had in the first place.

Administration looking a definite possibiltiy too, and that loses you another 9 points straight away.

Probably still turn our shower over this weekend mind - injuries/illness and all round general incompetence means we're likely to field a central midfield pairing of Geremi and Cacapa.

First of all can I wish everyone on PP a belated Happy New Year, sorry I have not been posting much recently, got loads to do preparing for retirement at the end of the month.

I know this is only symantics but I thought the penalty for going into administration was a 10 point deduction not 9 points?

I don't think any of the current Premiership teams, including West Ham, will go into administration this season, possibly in the close season but not before the end of this season.

It does look like West Ham's involvement with Tevez is going to come back and keep biting them in the bum. Doesn't look like such a good arrangement now does it? From a personal point of view I think the FA have investiagted it once and that should be the end of it. They should not keep coming back to find new ways of punishing the club. The legal battle with Sheff Utd is still outstanding, once that is resolved, and I think Sheff Utd have a strong case, then a line should be draWn and the matter closed.

Just my point of view of course.

See you all soon.

John
