We have two tickets for sale on Easy Jet to fly out on 31st December and return on 18th January, 2009. They are from Manchester to Paphos.

We paid £90 each for the flights but cannot now fly on those dates due to new contract work wise.

Any offers since it would cost about £60 each to change the names.

Jan - I hate to tell you this, but it's not that easy! A friend booked a flight on easyJet, then could not use it - I rang them up to change the name on the ticket, and, because the price of the flight had increased since the original booking, I would have had to pay the name change fee, PLUS the difference between the two prices! The original price was €110, and they wanted another €200 to make up the difference. Just had a look on the website, and the current price is almost £400 for 2 tickets.
This is off the ej website

You can change names in a booking:

Change name online at My easyJet.com1
Calling the Contact Centre 1*
At the airport sales desk2
Passengers who wish to change a name in the booking will need to pay:

an administration fee per passenger per one-way flight (see below)
any difference in fare with the original price and the one selected.

no refund will be made if the selected fare is lower in price

Hi Jean,

Thanks for that and I guess we will have to just lose the money then. Seems rather unfair that they have held that money since June and now unless we claim on a travel insurance then we cannot claim it back. Nor can we sell on or even let relatives use the tickets.

Warning to all then to be sure that you can use the tickets before booking with EJ.

Anyway Jean thanks for letting us know the full situation.

Jan I tried to do the same thing, that's how I found out. I did have words with ej, as they had had Neils money from May to November but they would not budge - they just say it's in the T & Cs!
