We lost everything for about an hour, but all is back and functioning now.

Problem was on the server-side unfortunately so nothing we could do to speed the process at our end! :(

I have just got off the phone from our hosting company
in america, I had martin (tech Dept) on my other ear at the same time.
Martin got so frightened at my shouting he hung up
I have been assured that this will never happen again.
If so, we will move our hosting to another company..
I am not paying good money for a crap service....
Rant over ...

Neil,

just stick 1 shilling in the meter and everything will be OK

" sounds as though, you are one of those old miserable Scots gits ."

1 shilling ( old money )
not really too much

bite it !

if it bends, its not real...............

I lost the forum for about 20 minutes just now but could still get onto the rest of the site. The screen said something about a critical error :? Sounds serious ...hope it's not - can't do without my PP fix :)

Hi all

JGG mentioned repeat posts contributing to the short outage of the board last night. Just prior to the outage, Jan (Mrs Tom) was responding to a thread when the response returned an error. Jan then retried to submit the response and lo and behold - 4 copies of the response. I also spotted another response which had two identical copies. It could be possible IMHO that the error which caused the crash was exacerbated by some sort of code loop.

That's my thoughts anyway.

kind regards

Graham

I hope all goes well because I really did have withdrawal symptons yesterday. I am only on the site in the morning (normally) but tried lunchtime and still nothing. Too, too cold in the evening to sit at the computer plus I am normally watching something on TV snuggled in front of the fire.

Apologies folks - I have been on the phone to our American hosting company for the last 30 minutes, they said we could get a few more outages today, as they work on the problem.
