I knew it wouldn't be long before his ego got the better of him :huff

or was it the referee's fault

What's this got to do with the match Gary  Nowt :!:

Saint Gerrard has now been charged with Assault & Affray (ABH), which puts him in the same catagory as Joey Barton, a THUG :!: :!:

So what example is Saint Gerrard showing the youth of today, nothing more than Barton, I'm just glad he's finally shown his true colours :|

So does this mean he'll lose his MBE if he's got a criminal record :?

A quote from NUFC.com which I agree entirely with :o

'Stevie G, MBE, ABH

Fresh from firing two goals against us on Sunday, Steven Gerrard was involved in a nightclub fracas that has seen the England midfielder charged with ABH.

It is almost the anniversary of fellow Scouser, Joey Barton's Merseyside brawl that saw him spend three months at Her Majesty's pleasure.

Should the Liverpool captain be convicted, it will be interesting to see how many of those calling for Newcastle to sack Barton will be equally vociferous in wanting Gerrard to be shown the door by the league leaders, ditched from the England set-up or even stripped of his MBE.

Watch this space for double standards galore....'

I can't wait to see what happens & what action is taken :|

hmmm, I do believe that until he is CONVICTED of a crime he is innocent. Do correct me if I am wrong of course. So, until then perhaps comments like he is ' A THUG' should be left unsaid.
However, if and I do say if he is found guilty then he should be punished accordingly. But I shall wait and see, letting justice take its course rather than jumping the gun. :D

Sorry Tallulah, somehow I don't think they would have charged him with ABH if they thought he was innocent would they :?

Believe me I know, as it happened to me many years ago

Of course people, including Gerrard can and indeed have been charged with a crime they did not commit!.
I shall wait and see, but if its ture then its a sad reflection on football, and the man should hang his head in shame, IF its true.

Ok, I can understand you want to wait until the 23rd Jan when his case is heard but IF as you put it, he is found guilty, do you think he'll be treated the same way by the people & the crap-loids as Joey Barton has been treated or will they treat him differently :?

Will Liverpool be lambasted by the people & the crap-loids for not sacking him, same as Newcastle were, even though what happened with Joey Barton happened at another club (Citey) or will the people & the crap-loids just say he was provoked :?

Personally I think Gerrard is a dirty player, I don't particularly like him & I see what's happened as him just showing his true colours at last, as he's been getting away with it on the pitch for years without retribution, which it seems he will now, as the FA have already said, his England place isn't in question & that no formal charges will be made for bringing football into distripute

I just hope he's found guilty & see how this changes if at all :|

I dont know if he will be treated differently if found guilty, although I suspect his press will be more favourable than bartons, not sure why but just a feeling.
he should then be stripped of his captaincy, punished by his club and in my opinion banned form England duty for a period.
Yes I suspect Liverpool will be attacked, success does seem to breed contempt in Britain.
We shall await the outcome.........

Pete, you hope he is found guilty  what a thing to say
I understand Barton's assault was his own doing with him the aggressor. I'll bet money Gerrard will have been provoked.
Other than being footballers, there are no comparisons between Bartons behaviour and this isolated case against Gerrard.
You've never liked him and you are letting your prejudice get the better of you. As Stevie G himself might say "Calm Down, Calm Down !"

The reason I want him found guilty is so we can see if people treat him the same as they've treated Barton

See what I mean, no one wants to see him in his true colours even after all the crap he's been getting away with on the pitch for years :x

So what if it's a single incident or not... beating the crap out of anyone deserves punishment, Barton did 3 month in jail, will Gerrard if found guilty.. probably not.. anyway, that's not my point, my point is will Liverpool be lambasted like the TOON where over Barton, even tho Bartons troubles were at Man Citey but we took the crap from everyone

I openly admit I don't like the guy, I'm not hidinig that fact & never have, so this sort of stuff just proves me right in the end.... :|

I fail to see what stuff proves you right.
Over the years footballers have been provoked and ended up in trouble. If Gerrard is the aggressor and there is no mitigation then he'll have to take his punishment.
It's very unlikely to be a prison sentence because of his.....and this is the difference....previous good character.
He's never been in trouble before and is a great example to the kids of today, hence his MBE. He has captained England, has won the European Cup and is a true family man. He can not be compared to Barton in any way other than they get their money from doing the same thing.
By the way, take your tunnell vision glasses off, Gerrard is a class act. He is a determined midfield player with pace, stamina, decent in the tackle and a formidable goalscorer. He is a leader and I've never known of him to deliberately set out to hurt anyone. I don't know what you are talking about .
Gary

I'm not the one wearing blinkers mate, he's a vicious, dirty player who gets away with loads of crap on the pitch because he's Saint Gerrard of Pool

I'm giving my opinion, which is my given right to express, like it or lump it... yes I'll be in the minority but at least I'm honest about it, I'm not going to say he's great, fabulous, wonderful etc when I don't think he is

Anyone who beats the crap out of another person, no matter who he is, should be punsihed no matter what they did before, no matter if they're an angle, IF he's found guilty, he'll be no better than Barton, no matter what you or others think of him

Yes you are in the minority and there's a very good reason for that.

From what I have read so far he didn't 'beat the crap' out of anybody but caught the man in the face with his elbow when allegedly the man pushed him. But as I have stated before I prefer not to judge his guilt or innocence until all teh facts ar established and he has been in court.

If this is the case, then why has he been charged with ABH http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Actual_bodily_harm :? you don't get charged with ABH for just that, you shouldn't believe what you read in the crap-loids Tallulah, especially The SUN

I totally agree, I believe that it is only a very strong man who can avoid severe provocation and my understanding is that any man will sling a punch to protect the honour of his wife !!

I don't normally come into the sports bar but thought I'd pay a visit to see what happens in here, what a shock to see such abysmal comments.
Pete you're so prejudice against Gerrard I thank god your not the judge. He is a true gent we have seen him around town in Southport and he has been impeccable with the public he doesn't put himself on a pedestal like some.
He deserves his MBE and leads a very quite family life.
I think judgment should be reserved until after his court case and if he his guilty justice will be done.
I won't call in here again I don't like it.

Jan :)

I was going to say sorry Jan but on second thoughts I'm not, I'm entitled to my own opinion regarding people & I see it how it is, that is, if you're charged with ABH, which Gerrard has been, or did you miss that on the news & in the crap-loids, then he's not a innocent as they would have you believe

I'm not prejudice against Gerrard as you put it, I just don't like the guy & believe me, he's not the only one I don't like :x I've seen him plying his trade on the pitch & I think he's a dirty player & who says that hasn't spilled over into the public domain, no one :o yes I believe a man is innocent until proven guilty but as I've been in that very same situation myself, I know what it takes to be charged with ABH & it's not just a small push, shove or exchange of testoterome (sp?)

Any players including Gerrard, Barton, Bowyer, Woodgate, Bellamy etc who get themselves arrested for causing a distrubance in the public sector should be punished, I don't care if they're a saint & have the perfect family life, if it can happen to Joe Bloggs on the street, why not them

As for not calling in here again, then that is your choice :|

With him pleading Not Guilty, its now gone to a commital hearing, where they'll decide if there's any case to answer & if there is, it will go to trial by jury

It looks like the CPS have something or why would they take it this far :?
