Blimey!! This thread alone could keep the rumour mill going for a few years on its own. :gossip

It always baffles me how the Peyia bashers have no experience of living here yet feel the need to comment, usually detrimentally??

Karen - very happy living in Peyia, yes my house has recently been put up for sale, no I'm not moving back to UK, would happily live in Peyia again and thanks for broadcasting it Pete.

Anyone can PM me if you would like to view!

We have been here for 5+ years and thoroughly enjoy it. This afternoon friends have invited us to watch the rugby, and later bbq with them and their friends. If you are in "trouble" there is always a Brit to hellp you out.

Never say never but it is unlikely that we will be leaving Peyia in the next 70 years.

Your welcome, saves you paying for an advert, does it not

Saying that, I take it you'll be wanting to move into another property in Peyia then Karen :?

As for not being able to give an opinion without first living there, I've actually talked to quite a few friends who've lived there & have moved, so my opinion is based solely on what they've told me, a couple of them, may I say, had lived there well before it became a brit enclave, so I think they would have a better understanding than most, would they not :?

When I moved here the second time, we looked at a bungalow near the stadium in a little cul-de-sac below a complex, which I've since found out is where Captain Fantastic lives, but everyone we saw around us seemed to be British, so it sort of put us off but if, as I've said before, you like living in a brit enclave, that's your choice, it's not mine!

Saves paying for one on this forum when in actual fact it was you that told us no-one looks at the Property For Sale Section. I decided to go with a professional marketing company

If at all possible, yes I'd be happy to

Quote:
so my opinion is based solely on what they've told me

Still not YOUR experience is it?

Quote:
you like living in a brit enclave

You may want to call it an 'enclave' but actually in my near neighbourhood it is approximately 60-70% cypriot

Quote:

Absolutely correct, it is my choice as it was your choice to live in Tsada (would be interested to know the percentage of brits there) and you now live in a semi industrial area.

If you want to start mud slinging Pete I defend the right to reply back in my own words. I find your postings and comments pompous, arrogant and quite honestly insulting. You are 'doing down' anyone that wishes to live amongst ex pats and yet you have a stall at the market selling products mostly aimed at ex pats and are an administrator on this very forum which is again mostly aimed at ex pats. I really do call into question your skills as Sales & Marketing Administrator.

My opinion not necessarily yours

Karen

Pete what makes you think its just BRITS that live in Peyia their are a lot of other nationalities residing there Dutch/Swiss/German but to name a few/ And a jolly nice place to live- more like a town now than the village it used to be -a bit like Analogous/Tremithousa/Tsada to name a few quit a few foreign nationals in these places. Ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls, learned friends of the asylum, pray listen to the words of wisdom.

Peyia is great, especially if you have transport or have no great need to use public transport. Ther are some lovely properties around and some fantastic scenery, but also it does not suit everybody's requirements in a home location, so its a case of horses for courses.

I dont think its worth slinging too much mud in any direction, we have some fantastic properties there (sales and rental) and they will suit many different lifestyles, so again 'horses for courses' comes to mind.

As for Upper, lower, west, east or below ground, Peyia is technically Peyia (Pegeia), we all know loosely whih bits we are referring to when we speak as there are no real boundaries. But for snobbish purposes I live if far far far East Peyia called Chlorakas.

My very own sister has a fantastic apartment there(great terms offered), and she will have nationalities of all sorts around her.

Similarly I think the reason there is a percieved Britghetto tag to Peyia is the speed with which the place grew and that so many Brits bought there before the rest of europe found it.

As for the recluses living in the safety and anonimity of the Sea Caves, that can only be because they are all trying to avoid Interpol and/or divorce lawyers. :)

I did write a reply to Karens & Owens posts above but because I'm an Administrator of the forum, I'm told I not allowed to give my own opinions

So just to clear something up though, I know Peyia isn't just full of ex-pats but it does have the biggest concentration of them in the whole of Cyprus, does it not?

Also, first & foremost I'm a member of this forum & I'm giving my opinion which I'm entitled to & I don't have to live somewhere before giving that opinion, its the same as saying I'm not allowed to give my opinion on anything pre-1969 because I wasn't born, how stupid is that  Some people may not like my opinions & I understand that because sometimes I don't other members opinion but I don't go off on one just because of it....

I'll apologise if I've upset anyone with my opinion, in the end it is just that, my opinion!!

Welcome emgeeb, nice to have you on board. I think you have created a record, in your first post, said nothing bad and got them all at it.. :celeb2 at least they can :gossip Now as for Karens house, been there what a view over the bay, cant be blocked in the future, one of the many reasons many go for Peyia. Good local tavernas and bars, and cheapest pint I know at the Mill. You pays your money you take yours choice..... :greetings Richard
