When will we ever rid ourselves of these horrible people.

They are stopping what tourists we have in sunny Chloraka by the sea - inviting them to a free tour ( and two hour high powered sales pitch ) at the lovely Capital Coast Resort and Spa. :manic

" It's not timeshare it's a holiday club !!!!!!!" - same difference still illegal to tout on the streets, but guess the owners have line a few pockets to ensure that these people continue to 'work' their evil con :tickedoff

This is war :explode :rocky :handbags :flag :boxing

Not down our road, surely D & P ? If so they must be guests at the Paphian Park, as I don't think the Akti is open yet! I wish they'd stop me !!! But they never stop people on their own, which I always used to think was an insult, until I thanked my lucky stars for it

Yes Jean - right outside our garden wall and she had the nerve to tell us to go away when we started to complain - as we were spoiling her pitch !!!!!

Yes a lovely couple from the Paphian Park managed to escape her clutches - with a little help :celeb2

Ask them how much they will give you to go an attend one of their "presentations"

If they offer you less than €50, tell them you get a better deal in Malta!

The touts there get €100 as long as you spend 60 minutes at the presentation and they are perfectly happy to split their fee 50/50 with you - and, the money is given to you up front before you go through the door!

We just did our presentation last month there - it paid for our apartment!

The trouble with the touts splitting their commission with people is that it encourages them to keep trying to get people through the doors, which defeats the object of getting rid of them permanently. :(

When we first moved here almost 5 years ago, at the
the harbour we got a first prize winning scratch card
not being aware of these touts we were asked that
it would only take 90 minutes to claim the prize and
we went by taxi to a hotel towards the water park.
4 1/2 hours later with a bunch of useless vouchers
and 2 pee'd off children we were on our way home.
I wondered why the guy in the Taxi said " Don't tell
anyone you live here  So thats all i say to
them now before they even open their mouths. :)

My brother and his wife got taken in by these scum in Spain and they handed over £5,000 on the understanding they would get cheap holidays for the next five years.

They have had only one holiday booked via this club in the five years and that was well out of season and on a virtually empty holiday golf complex that was boring.

They are now due their money back since that was the deal but of course they have not seen a penny back as yet. Now paying a lawyer to try for them.

Con artists the lot of them.

Paphos touting clampdown

THE NEW Paphos police chief said he had a meeting on Monday with the Minister of Justice, Loucas Louca, to address the problem of ‘touting’, which is prevalent on the seafront in Paphos.

"We will have more police in the area and stronger punishments for the perpetrators," he said.

The Minister said that larger fines and firmer punishments would be levelled at those flouting the law. Touting in Kato Paphos has become a serious problem with representatives of ‘holiday clubs’ and time-share companies harassing tourists and causing them to complain. Some have said they would never return to Cyprus.

In addition restaurants and bars are also not permitted to ‘tout’ for business. As well as the police, the mayor of Paphos, Savvas Vergas, has confirmed his commitment to stamping out these practices.

But Krokkos added, that there wouldn’t be a small police office on the seafront in Kato Paphos this year, an idea that was unsuccessfully tried out last summer.

"There would only be two policemen manning the small station. It’s a bad use of resources; it’s unhelpful and creates the wrong impression, as if Paphos is a prison camp," he said." I prefer to have an increased number of patrols in the area. I think this will give us better results," he added.

When pushed on the point that many residents of Paphos complain about patrolling officers driving through an area with their lights flashing without stopping, he assured, that they would now be getting out of their vehicles and walking around.

"As I said, it’s important for officers in Paphos to be aware of what is going on, and in some cases a police presence may be able to stop a crime."

I was driving down my road in Chlorakas by the Sea this morning, when I spotted a red car pulled up at the side of the road, and two young women out of the car, accosting a couple. I pulled up, wound down my window, and likened them to vultures, pouncing on innocent tourists, and informed the couple that no matter what was said, it was time share! Honestly, if you can;t even walk up a country road without being stopped by these scum, it's a bad do.

Jean, I'm shocked! You seem like such a mild-mannered individual!

Well done though! :clap

Martin - I usually am - but these people really wind me up. I can't stand them and the lies they tell to these poor unsuspecting tourists!

I used to stop and tell the tourists to keep moving, however as the bulk of these touts work and live near me, they all know who I am, where I live and which is my car. So for the time being I just drive by and let the unuspecting tourists get caught.

Good on you for standing up to them Jean. A one man vigilante squad.

OOOpps sorry, woman.
