What is the name of a wood structure that has partial shade and is usually made with 4 posts and across the top it has wood slats going across in an upright postiton. I know there is a name for this

It's a pergola - sometimes there is a canvas woven through it, or the one outside my bungalow has a vine growing over it.

Pity they didnt ever create a Mars Bar vine!!

Doug the vine is ok if you don't mind the fact that snakes love going on top of it and falling asleep. Also they are dirty things and you really can't sit and eat underneath them. You get caterpillars the size of your finger and do they cr.p - more like rat pellets falling on top of you.

Yes, they look lovely but are totally impractical - I asked my landlord if I could take it all down, but he wouldn't agree, so we compromised and I took half of it down, and I'm going to put up a canvas sail to shade me from the sun.
